Chris Huston, A.K.A. ‘The Heisman Pundit‘, is the creator and publisher of Heismanpundit.com as well as a Heisman columnist for the Orlando Sentinel.
He coordinates the Heismanpundit/Orlando Sentinel Heisman Poll, a weekly survey of Heisman voter sentiment, which was the most accurate of all the Heisman polls in 2008, picking five of the top six finishers in the final vote. He became a Heisman voter in August of 2009.
He got his start as an assistant sports information director at the University of Southern California where, among other things, he conceived and directed the successful Heisman campaigns of both Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart.
Inspired by his first up-close exposure to the Heisman process in 2002, Chris formulated The 10 Heismandments, a set of unspoken, unofficial guidelines that ‘govern’ how the Heisman winner is selected. From these rules sprang the idea for Heismanpundit.com–and the rest is history. Heading into its sixth season, “HP” is one of the oldest and most influential sports blogs on the internet.
Dubbed “the foremost authority on the Heisman” by Sports Illustrated, HP is regularly quoted or cited during football season in newspapers across the country. He is also a frequent guest on sports talk radio and was prominently quoted in two recently-released books on college football.
Last December, he contributed Heisman content for Sports Illustrated.com. In previous seasons, he contributed to the Sporting News.com and was a columnist for CSTV.com and the AOL Fanhouse.
Chris has been an ardent fan of college football–as well as a dedicated student of its history–since the age of five. He is 37 and lives in Los Angeles.
