Odds and Ends

The Hartford Courant just came out with is top 4 in the Heisman list:

1. Southern Cal QB Matt Leinart

2. Oklahoma QB Jason White

3. Purdue QB Kyle Orton

4. Southern Cal WR Reggie Bush

Bush now a WR? I guess USC has finally found a replacement for Mike Williams

White Out

Jim Carty of the Ann Arbor News writes:

“How can you drop Jason White out of your Heisman rankings when you voted for him last year? It’s a fair question, and the simple answer is things have changed. Last year, White was indispensable for the Sooners. With backup tailback Adrian Peterson going for 183 yards to beat Oregon last Saturday, the quarterback now seems like a complementary player. And there are guys simply having better seasons playing bigger roles on teams just as good as Oklahoma. That’s not to say White won’t be back if others falter.

Top five: 1. Matt Leinart, QB, USC; 2. Kyle Orton, QB, Purdue; 3. Cedric Benson, RB, Texas; 4. Alex Smith, QB, Utah; 5. Kay-Jay Harris, RB, West Virginia. Darkhorse: Vernand Morency, RB, Oklahoma State. Dropped out: Jason White, QB, Oklahoma.

At least now I won’t be the only taking crap for not including White in my rankings.
