More Illogic

This time, hosted by the folks at Bruins Nation.

Once again, an LSU fan ignores reality by claiming that there was no split national title in 2003.

It leads one to wonder: Is it just something in the water down there? Can people really be so dumb? They must be, because despite all evidence to the contrary, despite a college football history full of split titles, despite the fact that the BCS website itself says that the 2003 title was split, despite the fact that only the coaches poll is bound by the BCS, we still get bombarded with weird statements like these:

Besides that though, to say that the AP poll is still valid as a national champion selector because it was never specifically excluded is an illogical argument. This is because the nature of a “champion” is a singular nature. The inclusion of one selector (BCS) necessarilly excludes any and all others (AP). The idea of a split title runs counter to the concept of a “champion.” Co-champion is really a contradiction of terms. When the conferences signed up with the BCS, all other national champion selectors became invalid. Logically you do not need nor can you have multiple ways to select a national champion. That is why the agreement did not need to specifically exclude the AP and it also did not need to declare the BCS the “only” selector. It was implied. Please let me know if I am wrong.

Dude (and all those who hold this view) we have already let you know that you are indeed wrong. Horribly wrong. You’ve been told over and over. You have had it explained to you in black and white. The BCS itself says you are wrong. But no matter how off base this view point is shown to be, it still makes no difference.

The bleating of the sheep goes on.

Four legs good! Two legs bad! Go LSU! Baaah!!
