A Tangled Web

Just when it seems like a slow day with nothing to write about, one can always count on drivel from the blogosphere to come through in the end.

So, a perusal of Bruinsnation.com reveals yet another dumb post regarding the the Billboard War of ’06.

This time, BN links to another blogger–Gunslingers–to do their dirty work for them. Except, the dirty work is just factually incorrect, as Gunslingers writes:

The whining coming out of Heismanpundit about how USC really is a dynasty and LSU fans are dumb and stuff is seriously like fingers on a chalkboard.

Of course, there has been no whining here about whether USC is a dynasty or not. This site has always been agnostic on that issue. But, what this site has been writing about is the refusal of LSU fans and other useful idiots to recognize that USC and LSU were co-champions in 2003. I said as much here and here.

Now, neither of those two links mention anything about USC’s claim to a dynasty, but rather deals with those who refuse to acknowledge the split title in 2003. Of course, these are the two blog entries linked by Gunslingers and the ones to which he refers in the above quoted text.

So, one must ask just who is doing the whining here? Whose bias and grinding axe is blinding them to being able to comprehend a simple blog entry?

Certainly, someone like Michigan Zone, a fine Wolverines blog, isn’t in this group.

Nor is Georgia blogger Kyle who, despite being turned off by my attitude (touche, but can you see now why I get worked up?), agrees that there was a split title in 2003. What can be more intellectually honest than agreeing with someone you dislike because, in the end, he’s right?

No, the only ones who really are hearing the ‘nails on the chalkboard’ are either those who refuse to recognize the 2003 co-champions, those who lack the ability to understand the debate or those whose blind hatred or strange jealousy somehow causes them to side with an argument that they know deep down to be false.

If there is one thing worse than nails on the chalkboard, it’s intellectual dishonesty.
