Osborne Write-In Effort Rejected

Heisman Trophy winners have a lot of juice, but even Johnny Rodgers couldn’t save Tom Osborne’s bid to mount a write-in campaign for the Nebraska governorship.

The 1972 Heisman winner led a group that tried to get Osborne–who did NOT support the effort–on the general ballot after the former Nebraska coach and congressman lost in the Republican primary.

The Nebraska Supreme Court denied the request.
