The Final Top 10

It’s a little late, but here’s my final top 10 for 2006:

1. Florida (12-1)–The new superpower in college football. Hot coach, great mix of talent and scheme.

2. Ohio State (12-1)–Still a very good team. It just ran into a buzzsaw in Glendale.

3. Boise State (13-0)–On a neutral field, I like their chances against almost any team out there.

4. USC (11-2)–The Trojans have more talent than they know what to do with, hence the two losses to lesser teams.

5. LSU (11-2)–Another very talented team that somehow couldn’t seem to put it all together.

6. Louisville (12-1)–Managed to win the Big East despite losing its top running back and missing Brian Brohm for several games.

7. Michigan (11-2)–Still a very talented team, but ran out of gas in the final two games.

8. West Virginia (11-2)–You know this program has reached a new level when 11 wins is seen as a disappointment.

9. Oklahoma (11-3)–This team was two miracle losses away from going 13-1.

10. California (10-3)–Finished strong while capturing second 10-win season in three years.

On the cusp: Texas, Brigham Young, Auburn, Oregon State, Wisconsin.
