Picking This Week’s Games

I am 41-40 (.506) on the year, but 24-18 (.571) the last four weeks. As usual, I will pick the games where I see a betting play.

My spreads are courtesy of Madduxsports.com.

Indiana (+8.5) at Wisconsin–I really like the duo of Kellen Lewis and James Hardy and I think Indiana is a rapidly improving team and better than their record. So, I think they cover here and might even get the upset.

Wisconsin 31, Indiana 26

Illinois (-13.5) vs. Ball State–After giving away the Michigan game, the Illini should be hopping mad. BSU is much improved, but they won’t be able to stop Illinois from romping.

Illinois 42, Ball State 21

Kansas (-3) at Texas A&M–This is a surprising line to me, as I don’t think A&M is very good at all. Kansas is for real and, while they may stumble here soon, it won’t be against the Aggies.

Kansas 38, Texas A&M 17

California (+3) at Arizona State–Jeff Tedford has never lost three games in a row at Cal and I don’t think that will happen yet. ASU is undefeated, but this will be its first real test. I think they fail it, in keeping with the theme of this season.

I also like the OVER on this game of 60.5.

California 45, Arizona State 42

Tulane (-1.5) vs. Memphis–I can’t say much about this game other than I think Tulane is better than people think and will cover easily.

Tulane 34, Memphis 17

Washington (-3.5) vs. Arizona–The Huskies started out strong this year, then hit a rough patch, but I suspect that their showing against Oregon foreshadows a strong finish. It’ll start with a solid win over Arizona at home.

Washington 28, Arizona 16

Ohio State (-3.5) at Penn State–This one is a tough one as I think the Buckeyes will fall at some point in the next few games, but it just seems to me that they match up too well with Penn State. The Lions will have trouble scoring and the Buckeyes win easily.

Ohio State 17, Penn State 6

Rutgers (+6) vs. West Virginia–The Mountaineers usually have a late-season swoon and this game looks like the best bet. Rutgers wins outright.

Rutgers 27, West Virginia 20

USC at Oregon (59.5 over)–I think this will be a high-scoring, sloppy game that will go over 59.5 points. Not sure who will win, but it should be entertaining.

USC 38, Oregon 37
