Exit Tebow

Now, I knew Tim Tebow was never going to win the Heisman this year.  I’ve been saying so since he won it last year.  My Heisman Watch has always reflected that, as I never listed him as a guy who had a shot at winning this season.

Nonetheless, I just wanted to make it official.  After today’s debacle against Ole Miss, Tim Tebow will not win the Heisman this year.  He’s a great player, but for many reasons–some of them spelled out here before the season–he won’t get there again.

Could he rebound and get to New York?  Maybe.  But the Gators offense needs to kick it in high gear and soon.  It has looked sluggish for most of the season.  NOT what I expected.

This is sad but true. I was at the game yesterday and informed the folks around me that any shot he had at going back to back are gone. From his play it is pretty clear that his coaches have told him to run only as a last resort. This has killed him statistically and killed the Gators offense yesterday. The O line looked terrible… the worst Gator O line I have seen recently, and it was clear that Tebow was told not to run. So he stayed in the pocket and got sacked and over threw receivers instead.

It was ugly… the good news, we can still win the BCS championship if we get our stuff together and win out. It’s a long season and this is why we play the game!
