What’s going on…
—Why are people so upset about Gene Chizik becoming Auburn’s coach? At least he was a college head coach before coming Auburn. If Charles Barkley wants to get riled up, he should be bitching about Lane Kiffin getting hired at Tennessee.
—The Oklahoma rightfully rips Beano Cook for complaining about Tim Tebow being left off some Heisman ballots. For crying out loud, it’s not like there were only three good players out there this year.
—Here’s an interview I did with online magazine Gelf.
—The Heisman Trophy presentation garnered a 2.7 rating, with over 4.1 million viewers tuning in.
—Sophomores have won the last two Heismans. Does that bode well for Terrell Pryor?
—SI.com has it’s top five quirky moments from the Heisman ceremony.
—Foxsports.com briefly had a story up with Tim Tebow as the winner.

Agree 100% on Chizik. Barkley does not know his college football, and apparently 75% of college football fans don’t either. Chizik was DC at TWO 13-0 programs within the last six years was one of the best recruiters in the country at that time. I love Turner Gill but outside of a VERY SOLID job at Buffalo his experience level is not extensive and his ability as a recruiter is still not fully developed. Once more, he also had a losing record at Buffalo after two seasons just like Chizik had at Iowa State. Granted, turning Buffalo around was a harder job in my mind, but it was a different kind of job. Barkley is comparing apples to oranges here. Furthermore again, Hoke did not get the Auburn job and had to go to SDSU and was arguably a more experienced and better coach than Gill from the same setting (MAC). The reality is a lot of programs just don’t higher even the hottest guy if his experience level is low; just look at Meyer going from BGSU to Utah then to Florida. Gill is going to make a great coach but but I really think Barkley and a lot of people are not putting all the pieces together here.
I don’t understand why Barkley gets to be in the news about this. He’s not on the coaching search committee. Did he even graduate from Auburn? Oh yea there’s that one little matter that he’s a freaking BASKETBALL player. This is not news, stop covering this BS (that’s not directed at you HP, all the stupid media outlets that did).
What’s with your constant bashing of Lane Kiffin? We know you think he’s garbage. You should sing a new tune.
If I were an Auburn fan I would rather have Turner Gill. Fact of the matter is, after interviewing 10-12 candidates, there were a number of coaches with better resumes than Chizik. And if you want to spin it another way, Auburn fired one of the most respected coaches in the country to hire a 5-19 coach. Who would you rather have, Tommy Tuberville or Gene Chizik? The entire firing/hiring process Auburn went through just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense no matter what you think about the Gill-Chizik debate.
And like him or not, Barkley is the most famous/prominent Auburn athlete ever, so his voice indeed matters.
I wasn’t going to say anything, but it’s TERRELLE Pryor. Thanks.
