According to this piece by ESPN, Florida quarterback Tim Tebow is trying to prepare himself for the NFL by adjusting how he throws the ball.
It strikes me as funny that some think it is necessary to tinker with what has, to date, been extremely successful.
“Hopefully, they’ll screw him up,” said one coach at a rival SEC school.
And that is the worry.
But some NFL scouts are still perplexed about where Tebow will play in the NFL. At 6-foot-3 and 245 pounds, Tebow is big enough and strong enough to play other positions.
I’m still perplexed at how ‘some NFL scouts’ still have jobs. If we had listened to ‘some NFL scouts’ years ago, there would be no black quarterbacks today. And yet ‘some NFL scouts’ don’t know what position Tebow will play. To me, I can’t see why you wouldn’t play him at quarterback with an offense designed around his skills. But I guess it is more important that he learn the NFL way, which sucks all life out of the game.
I’m wondering why more NFL teams aren’t looking at what the Miami Dolphins are doing as an example of the future direction of offensive football. The Dolphins just drafted Pat White and you can be sure he’s going to get a chance to throw the ball in some kind of funky formation here and there.
If I were an NFL coach, I’d put Tebow, White and Vince Young in the same backfield at the same time where any of the three could get a direct snap and then dare defenses to guess what was coming.
But then, I’d also force every NFL team to have a marching band, too, so what do I know?

Heh, you hit on something with the marching band thing, its a huge symbol of why the NFL is lame, everything’s so pre-programmed.
I wouldn’t want marching bands at pro games. Let’s keep that vibe in college. It’s better, and it helps differentiate the two.
I think its funny that you spent 30 lines talking about Tebow and unconventional QB uses in the NFL, and 2 lines talking about adding a marching band, and the marching band strikes a chord (no pun intended).
