No words of wisdom about the teams or explanation for the obvious differences between your poll and most other rankings?
If you’re going putting your 4-5-6 in that order, I’d say you’ve got some ‘splainin’ to do. Otherwise, what’s the point?
Also, is this meant as a projection of the final poll, or a ranking of the teams “as-they-stand” now? That makes a big difference.
I will say that I like your darkhorses, but I’d definitely have Michigan State in there somewhere.
BYU at #9?
Call me crazy HP, but I like your style. I worry about that O-Line against OU’s defensive front though. Reynolds can hold his own, but can the rest of the guys? I agree with all your “on the cusp” picks and like Stanford as well as a darkhorse, but Auburn?
Yikes, don’t know.
Now I am a huge Oregon State fan but on the cusp, really? I’m hugely concerned about the fact that the entire secondary is being replaced coupled with the loss of both starting DE’s, who combined for 22 sacks…not a good combination.
That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised by another 9-4 season, but the Beavers are not top 10 material this year. I hate to say this but are you sure you didn’t mean to put Oregon there?
You have Notre Dame on the cusp, but no mention of Boise St. at all??? Hmmm…
I have to agree with the other comments too about Oregon and Michigan State.
I think neither Oregon nor Oregon State looks like an on-the-cusp team right now. While both teams have some good players returning, they also have some big holes to fill.
O.K. H.P. As always I will have to help you out. Notre Dame will probably win a lot of games but, so would Duke with that schedule.
Ole Miss will not be able to overcome the hype.
Alabama could be good but, only because of a great defense.
Oklahoma State will surprise me if they beat Georgia, ala Boise State, Oklahoma State ’07, Hawaii. Maybe it will happen but, we heard the “Greatest Offense in the World” claims before.
