Since everyone knows that the media never engages in stereotypes of the conferences and actually tells it like it is, I thought I’d provide a round up of all the stories extolling the Pac-10 for its toughness as two of its teams out-slugged and out-physicaled teams from the Big Ten and SEC.
You see, when the Pac-10 loses one of these type of games, it is always pigeon-holed as being ’soft’. Conversely, when the SEC wins, it is because it is tough and, of course, fast. The Big Ten is (naturally) slow, but it also gets to be labeled ‘physical’ when it wins an interconference game. Also, when the Pac-10 loses an interconference game, it is because the conference has issues. When the SEC loses one of these games, well, there’s really nothing to say.
Here are all the links to those stories about how UCLA beat Tennessee because it was tougher and faster and how USC beat Ohio State because it was more physical and how both wins were a sign of the Pac-10’s strength as a conference:
Hope you enjoyed them.

Sing it, HP! The Pac-10 gets NO love! Cal is ready to go into Big Televen territory next week and feast on some roadkill in Minneapolis. No one outside of the west coast (and the computer polls) will care. By the way… is anyone else bothered by the fact that UMinn plays in a stadium sponsored by a bank? What happened to naming them after your state, a famous alumni or coach, or a rich donor?
I’m all for giving the Pac 10 it’s credit.
But Walt, no one will care because Minnesota is just not any good.
congratulations on beating a shitty tennessee team and a team without a quarterback that can throw.
but yes, usc is a very good team.
Congratulations losing to a shitty team without a quarterback that can throw. I guarantee a Pac-10, SEC national championship game this year. I also guarantee that the SEC will eat their soiled undergarments after the Pac-10 demolishes them. You can quote me on that.
You know what else I guarantee? That the SEC tards will refuse to give any credit to the Pac-10 for crushing their team after it happens … not realizing how much they had been touting this said team’s superiority all year… decade… etc. I dont know if it’s the quality of the education down there, but SEC schools sure do produce some grade A morons.
I hope the SEC champion finishes with one loss and two other BCS conference teams (or one and BYU) go undefeated. Then we will be treated to the comedy act of hearing how the SEC champ should be in the title game over an undefeated team because the conference is so much tougher and so losing a game doesn’t matter like it does for other teams. Maybe they can crown the Sugar Bowl winner the “Southern Champion”.
Ha too funny.
I hope this post gets some traction on the web, it’s long overdue.
That shitty team that doesn’t have a QB that can throw is also coached by a pac-1 reject and his band of merry men! Lame Kitty is out of his league down here and UCLA just confirmed that fact. Wait and see what Florida does to this team the mighty Bruins lucked up and beat. Even you west coast fruit cakes know Lame Kitty’s play calling on the Volunqueers drive inside the 10 was pitiful. Everyone in my business was laughing before the failed 4th down saying, “watch the moron run up the middle again”. Most were bammers so if they were bright enough to know what Lame Kitty was gonna do then even that other school in LA did too.
OREFH…you is a funny dude, in a west coast kinda way, know what I mean bubba? lmao
Mmmm, go ahead and prove my point more AUman76. I’ll just go ahead and laugh at your pathetic attempts. Yes, it’s because Lane Kiffen has a Pac-10 background that Tennessee had such a poor showing LOL. Yes the “Volunqueers” in your vaunted SEC suck because of West Coast influence… your logic is oh so sound. What’s next, when Florida loses to an OOC opponent its because Urban Meyer built his success in the MWC that Florida sucks? Genius. I never would have thought that all of the SEC fault’s came from outside influences. Thanks for enlightening me.
I feel sorry for any team that plays Florida in the National Championship. If USC plays em they will get throttled like we did on the big stage in 07. Don’t pick Minnesota as a gimme game against Cal. Have you seen all the upsets this year already? Don’t sleep on ANY of these underdogs.

Too bad that the pac(1)0 has had only one BCS champ and that was in 2004 when an undefeated Auburn team was left out. They are from the SEC you know?
You probably aren’t aware that SEC teams are 7-2 in BCS NC games so, it’s not like they have been undeserving of being there.
If your piece of shit conference can’t make it to the championship then you’ll just have to settle for beating up on Illinois in the Rosie Bowl.
OREFH, you need to listen to bucknut cause he’s been there and done that! If USC can ever reqch the BCS Title game again, gotta get out of the sissy boy conference unscathed first, te SEC will be more than happy to show you haw things have changed since your lil tussel with texas. I’m a Gaytor Hater but they ain’t a losin to anyone outside the SEC. And you can book that one Dano! Once my Tigers face em in the SEC Championship game, ak: as the “Real BCS Championship Game” then UF just might have an L pinned om em. Go ahead and laugh but do so before you look at Florida’s last two games against AU.
Watch what happens to jr’s and pop’s UT squad in the Swamp. If you think shit stinks wait till you see Tennessee’s effort Saturday. Or best said the lack of effort. Now go hug a tree but make sure you kiss it first.
Of course Florida isn’t losing to anyone outside the SEC. They play Charleston Southern, Troy and Florida International. Pathetic. What, DeVry wasn’t available? Everyone knows Florida is good. So why don’t they take on a real team out of conference?
This is how the SEC gets 5 teams in the top 25. They beat up on cream puffs, 78-0, pad their stats and get the writers up into a lather. So after their easy OOC schedules, they get a high ranking going into conference play. Then the SEC is the “toughest conference” because all these over-ranked teams play each other. But are they really that good?
God knows these SEC teams rarely play anyone tough out of conference, and when they do, they lose. UCLA, Cal and USC are a combined 7-1 against SEC teams in the past 6 years.
And that includes your Tigers, AuMan, who got taken behind the woodshed by USC at Jordan Hare. Perhaps it’s that beating that convince voters that Auburn wouldn’t be able to hang with USC in the 2005 title game. Or perhaps the reason is that in 2004 Auburn played a bunch of pansy azz OOC schools like the ones Florida is playing this year.
And don’t even get me started about home games. Bama played Clemson last year and VaTech this year – both at home, weren’t they? That’s because SEC teams are too chicken sh*t to play OOC road games against BCS foes. Georgia’s trip to Stillwater this year was only the second non-conference road game since 1970 that occurred more than 80 miles from its campus. That’s not a typo. LOL That’s embarrassing. Oh, and the Dawgs lost. Looks like they won’t play another OOC road game until 2050.
Quick: which conference has the best BCS bowl record since the inception of the BCS? Answer? The Pac-10.
Max your post is so full of &h!t that it really don’t deserve a comment.
How come the SEC has been so successful in bowl games….Oh, I know because they’re all played in the south. Miles traveled is directly proportional to the quality of team played. Man, you people are really reaching arent’ you?
Cream Puffs??? Are you talking about those pac(1)0 standbys like Cal State Sacramento, Portland State, Cal Davis and, Montana? That’s not to mention those in-conference cream puffs. Oh yeah, at least the SEC beats their cream puffs.
Georgia plays a very tough OOC schedule. We lost to OSU but, last year beat Arizona State. I guess that our mistake was scheduling a BCS team outside the pac(1)0.
You can always tell when you’re the best. All the bottom feeders are eat up with jealousy.
I’m not one to normally defend the SEC, Max, but at least get your facts straight. Bama beat both Clemson and VT at a neutral site (Georgia Dome), not in Tuscaloosa.
Ed, yes you’re right that the games were at neutral sites. You’re also nitpicking because the point is the same…still a lack of ROAD non-conference games.
From Stewart Mandel:
Both last year and early this season, I’ve observed that when it comes to public perception, individual teams get credit for big wins, but conferences take the rap for bad losses.
When Alabama beat Virginia Tech on opening weekend, the general reaction was that the Tide look like they’ll be a BCS contender again; however, the Hokies’ loss, coupled with Virginia losing to William and Mary, Duke losing to Richmond and Wake losing to Baylor meant the ACC must stink. When Oklahoma State beat Georgia, the Cowboys were hailed as “legit;” when they lost to Houston — on the same weekend Kansas State lost to Louisiana-Lafayette and Colorado lost to Toledo — the Big 12 suddenly became “overrated.”
This is precisely what happened to the Pac-10 last year. On the same weekend USC got feted for thrashing Ohio State, Arizona lost to New Mexico, Arizona State lost to UNLV, Cal lost to Maryland, Stanford lost to TCU, UCLA lost 59-0 to BYU and Washington lost 55-14 to Oklahoma. Any credibility the conference might have hoped for effectively evaporated that weekend, and the Trojans’ impressive win was essentially forgotten as soon as they lost to Oregon State (which itself had already gotten blitzed by Penn State).
Looking at the first two weeks of this season, however, I would contend no conference has performed better than the Pac-10. The league boasts the best record (6-2) so far against the five other BCS leagues and the Mountain West and has largely avoided bad losses (with the exception of Oregon’s poor showing at Boise State). If the league can pull off a couple more wins this weekend — like Oregon State against Cincinnati or Arizona (which previously shut down Central Michigan) at Iowa — it’s going to be pretty tough for anyone from the SEC, Big 12 or elsewhere to argue with that record.
But of course, should Pac-10 teams lose more games than they win, or should UCLA (against Kansas State) or Stanford (against San Jose State), suffer a bad loss, it’s easy to predict the reaction. The Pac-10 stinks. USC doesn’t play anyone. Which is why, at the end of the day, the one surefire way for a conference to preserve its reputation is to schedule Troy and Charleston Southern.
“Which is why, at the end of the day, the one surefire way for a conference to preserve its reputation is to schedule Troy and Charleston Southern.”
Hope Mandel is ready for a lot of angry emails from ESS-EEE-SEE SPEED country.
Ahhhh yes…..how I love to stirr you west coast boys into a psycotic freenzy. I mean freeennnnseee. lol If you had as many good teams on the wrong coast as we do down south you wouldn’t have to travel 3000 miles across country to find decent competition. Oh well see one of the wanna be champs in the BCS Title Game against the SEC winner!
“Looking at the first two weeks of this season, however, I would contend no conference has performed better than the Pac-10. The league boasts the best record (6-2) so far against the five other BCS leagues”
Well there you have it. Stop everything right here after two weeks. No need to go any further. The pac(1)0 is the best!
Yep Dawgy…..end the season now while the gettin is good out west. lmao They think Tennessee is actaully still good but even Lame Kitty knows better than that. Thus all the attention seeking mouth from jr. Oh well…guess it’s time for the west coast boyz to hug a tree. Just feel sorry for the trees. lol
