Everyone ready for a little football betting?
My picks improved last week. I went just 5-5, but lost some very close ones that could’ve easily gone my way. On the year, I’m now at 9-11 against the spread. Ugh! Time to get to .500!
Syracuse (+3) vs. Northwestern–The Orange have displayed more grit in the last couple games than they have in recent years, so I think it will pay off in an outright win here at home.
Syracuse 20, Northwestern 17
Mississippi State vs. Vanderbilt (under 44.5)–These are two teams who seem to have trouble scoring. I think Vandy’s defense shuts down the Bulldogs and the ‘Dores get enough done on offense to win. But whoever wins, I like the UNDER here.
Vanderbilt 20, MSU 9
UCLA vs. Kansas State (under 43.5)–The Bruins are starting a true freshman at quarterback, so I think a conservative game plan is in order. The Wildcats are just inept all over the place, so the Bruin defense dominates and holds the score down.
UCLA 21, Kansas State 10
Auburn (-7.5) vs. West Virginia–The Tigers are rolling under new coach Gene Chizik and new OC Gus Malzahn. I think they keep it going here and move to 3-0.
Auburn 34, West Virginia 21
Florida (-29.5) vs. Tennessee–I’m not sure there are enough points for this spread. This one should be the massacre we’ve all come to expect. I doubt Meyer let’s up at 50.
Florida 63, Tennessee 14
Cal (-14) at Minnesota–The Bears have won their last 5 meetings with Big Ten foes by an average of 16 points. I think Jahvid Best goes off again here and the Bears crush the Gophers.
Cal 45, Minnesota 21
Baylor (-10.5) vs. Connecticut–The Bears had two weeks to prepare for this one and I think Art Briles will have some things up his sleeve for his offense. Robert Griffin has a big day and the Bears move to 2-0.
Baylor 31, Connecticut 16
BYU (-7.5) vs. Florida State–Provo isn’t an easy place to play and the Seminoles might be in for a shock with the elevation and the pure Mormonism of it all. If they don’t get things together early on offense, this could get ugly.
BYU 28, Florida State 17
Arkansas (-1.5) vs. Georgia–The Bulldogs haven’t seen Ryan Mallett yet and I see this as an advantage for the Hogs, who have had two weeks to get ready. Georgia’s defense is plundered yet again.
Arkansas 35, Georgia 28
Oregon State (+1) vs. Cincinnati–The Beavers have found a quarterback in Sean Canfield to go with the exciting Rodgers Bros. Cincy is off to a good start but OSU is a step up in class that will be too much to handle.
Oregon State 23, Cincinnati 19

Um, Texas- Texas Tech?
What say you on the TU/OU game?
I am only picking games where I see a potential ‘play’ in the line. If I were betting I would avoid those two games you guys commented on, cus I’m not sure what will happen against the spread.
