If I were a betting man, I’d bet that Cal running back Jahvid Best is making a move in the Heisman race after scoring five touchdowns against Minnesota on Saturday.
Combine that with the rather lackluster performances out of Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy and it looks like Best has a real shot at this.
The main determining factor will still be Cal’s matchup with USC and its overall record in the end. And if Tebow and McCoy start to heat up and go on a roll, one of them are still likely to win it.
But the window of opportunity is there for someone like Best to take advantage.
I think one real issue with Best is his health. He gets hurt a lot. He was clearly not close to 100 percent in the second half against Minnesota and it showed in his rushing totals.
