Watching Tate Forcier on that final drive today in regulation against Michigan State was about as good as it gets in college football.
The kid is special, no doubt. I wasn’t around when Fran Tarkenton was in his prime, but the two diminutive quarterbacks seem a lot alike based on the film.
Forcier is setting himself up nicely for a future Heisman run. He may be a legend by the time he leaves Ann Arbor–if he isn’t already.
What’s amazing about the guy is that, with game on the line, you just know he’s going to make a play. We’ve seen it in him over and over and it’s only five game into his college career. Even if you aren’t a Michigan fan, you can feel the psychic connection–the force?–and can’t help but pull for him. The way he scrambled and spun and gasped for breath on that final drive, you wanted him to succeed, right?
I know I did…and not just because I had Michigan plus 2 points.

We’ll see how good TF is when he goes against the defenses from Iowa, Penn State, and Ohio State. Methinks he’s not that great.
