Jeremia Masoli, the award is for most outstanding player, could anyone argue that Masoli is not the reason for the Ducks Dominance in the PAC 10? The strangle hold USC has had on the PAC 10 is over because of his poise and split second decision making. The guy does it all he can throw, run and handoff and is there a better fake/misdirection guy in the country? I don't think so.

Ponder has thrown for more yards, with a higher completion % than all QB's on the list. He also has 12 TD's to 1 interception. I don't know how many rushing TD's or yards he has. but he has gotten it done with his legs too. He's on a crappy team, and I know that is taken into account, but he should be given at least some recognition. Right?

What about Christian ponder? The guy is putting up numbers just as good as the QB's on your list. Yes his team sucks but he at least deserves a mention.

Ryan Mathews is fun to watch. I remember when he ripped off 3 60+ yd runs against Boise. I hope he gets into the conversation but I think he'll run into the same problem Marshall Faulk did. He had a much better year than Torretta but didn't have a lot of televised games to get himself into the national consciousness.

Has nobody who votes watched Ryan Mathews (RB, Fresno St) play? I know the Bulldogs have lost 3 times but this guy has been the best player to watch and is the nation's leading rusher this year. Ingram is a bit overrated. He's good but 'Bama would likely be in the same position if Richardson were carrying the ball most of the time. Noel Devine deserves some votes, as well. Case Keenum and Jimmy Clausen are the best QB's this year, leave the McCoy and Tebow hype back in the preseason where it belongs. Take it from me, an unemployed layabout who has watched way too much football this year. And loves Terrence Cody more than Suh. The Heisman race would be fine and exciting if people voted based on who is the best player rather than who is supposed to win because their team is good.

No problem tigercpa, I didn't take it that way. No doubt, Spiller is a great all-around player. I wish he played for the Gators. But reading your link, they're comparing Spiller against players who played for national title contenders/winners (or ND, who seems to get preferential treatment regardless of record i.e. Ismail, Paul Hornung). Also, his rushing/receiving numbers don't really measure up with top contenders. Ingram's rushing yards are almost equal to Spiller's rush/rec/return yards.

Johnny,

Looking back at my post, I wanted to make sure that it didn;t come across as trying to be a smart-ass. Sorry if it sounded like that.

I just think Spiller has shown his speed and versatility all year, and especually Saturday.

Here is a link that has data to support him as a reasonable canduidate, at least compared to past winners / hopefuls:

Jimmy Clausen is the top college player. Without him Notre Dame would be 0-7, he has carried this team on his shoulders.
