I was watching the 1971 Nebraska-Oklahoma game on ESPN Classic today and saw the following promo:

That’s right, the 1971 Heisman ceremony was at halftime of the Georgia-Georgia Tech game on Thanksgiving Day.  The winner, Pat Sullivan of Auburn, didn’t even attend as his team played Alabama that day.

    I feel like the subject should read “HOW FAR HAS THE HEISMAN REGRESSED”

    In 1971, the Heisman went to the best college football player in the country. Today, the Heisman goes to the player that best fits this sites “Heismandments”.

    The award lost it’s direction quite a while ago.
