Hey Chris,
Great website and I love following along with your blog. I had a question for you that maybe you could talk about on HeismanPundit.com…
With the great and record-setting day that Jordan Shipley had against UCF and the stellar stats that Colt McCoy put up, could the split attention actually HURT Colt McCoy? I ask, because I’m worried that the pro-McCoy voters may be inclined to vote Shipley as he continues to gain much due national exposure and the two may end up splitting votes, thus eliminating BOTH of them from the hunt!
What do you think? Is there any chance Shipley’s success hurts Colt?
Thanks a lot, and keep up the great work.

Geoff,
Thanks for writing. I don’t think you have much to worry about. The time for the Jordan Shipley Heisman candidacy has come and gone, so I doubt he’ll take a significant amount of votes away from McCoy. If anything, Shipley is more likely to take votes away from players other than McCoy, as his inclusion on ballots in the Southwest region would come at their expense.
I’d be surprised if Shipley cracks the top 10 in the voting. If I had to bet on a receiver getting in there, it would be Golden Tate of Notre Dame.

Are legitimate candidates ever really hurt by a teammate? Leinart and Bush both finished top 5 two years in a row and both won one. Doesn’t seem like their vote was split.

That’s because everyone was on USC’s jock hardcore.
