I agree with Brian's comments regard Coach Saban. Several games (FIU, North Texas, Arkansas), Alabama has not attempted to even score midway thru the 3rd quarter. Could you imagine what Ingram's stats could be if Coach Saban kept calling his number just to pad his Heisman candicacy.

Also not noted in this is the other running backs that Alabama uses (Richardson=80/404/4, Upchurch=17/144/1, Grant=40/166/3) that take run/yards/scoring opportunities away from Ingram.

Interesting stats on Mark Ingram from Chris Low’s blog:

"Mark Ingram is tied for second nationally with 38 rushes of 10 yards or more and has nine receptions of 10 yards or more for a total of 47 plays of 10 yards or more. Of Ingram’s 199 touches (175 rushes, 24 receptions), almost a quarter (23.6 percent) have gone for at least 10 yards.

Also, Ingram has gained 752 of his 1,364 rushing/receiving yards after contact this season, accounting for 55.1 percent of his total yards. He reeled off a season-best 167 total yards after contact against South Carolina on 24 rushes and two receptions. He also broke the 100-yard barrier on yards after contact against Virginia Tech (115) and LSU (107) and got close at Ole Miss (95)."

Ingram is getting big runs even though he's getting hit and playing against some of the best D's in the country. He also plays for a coach that doesn't care about running up stats (unlike Texas and Colt McCoy).

Put him in the ACC and he'd have 1500 yards easy.

I can't say I see the wisdom behind voting for Mark Ingram. When compared to the last Heisman winning Running Back (Reggie Bush) - he pales in comparison. Reggie was a flashy, man-among-men, type of player who dazzled viewers and set records. Ingram has been kept under 100 yards in 4 different games. Bush's highest game was a Pac-10 record 513 AP-yards! And that's just when compared to Reggie Bush...lets not go farther back to guys like Ricky Williams.

Ingram is a solid running back, but he has a very young career and a lot to prove. In a race as close as this, with guys like Colt McCoy that will be setting career NCAA records (and has yet to win the Heisman), I find it insulting that they would consider giving this prestigious award to someone who has proved so little.

Ingram is a good running back. But to win the Heisman, I think a player needs to be truly remarkable, not "above-average."
