You’re right – Tebow only has two rings but Florida doesn’t win either without him. It will be tough for Tebow to win a third. Counting McCoy as having a ring for the year he didn’t play just highlights his inability to win championships (so far). He’s a senior and still hasn’t even helped his team win the Big 12.

McCoy had a great game last night. It was yet another awful defense, but I’d put him ahead of Tebow at this point.

Tebow gas 2 although a 3rd is a possibility. Colt might end up with the same number of championship rings though. Great career for Tebow but a very average season — nothing Heisman-worthy about it in the least.

Texas’s best year while McCoy has been there was when he was sitting on the bench in 2005. McCoy is a year older than Tebow and redshirted as a freshmen while Tebow helped the Gators win a national championship as a true freshmen. The Gators are 46-6 in games Tebow has played.

McCoy still hasn’t even won his conference, while Tebow has three national championship rings.

I think McCoy deserves Heisman consideration, I just object to those who claim Tebow can’t win with 2 games remaining, including the huge game between Florida and Alabama.

Colt McCoy should win the heisman just due to the fact that he is the winningest quarterbackin college football history with a mindblowing record of 43-7 that’s jus ridiculous give him the hiesman!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You’ve got it exactly right. Also if you take away the sacks (because of the serious offensive line problems) Tebow has 154 rushes for 836 yards (5.4 yards/carry). That still includes several would-be sacks where Tebow carried defenders to the line of scrimmage or beyond. Tebow’s ability to run the option has ranked ahead of Alabama in rushing offense (both are in the top 10). Tebow averages 8.7 yards/attempt compared to McCoy’s 7.7 yards/attempt, has better pass/TD and pass/INT ratios than McCoy. And this is all done against much, much better defenses. Thanks to Tebow the Gators lead the nation in fewest punts this year with 28. McCoy’s Longhorns have been forced to pun 44 times.

Congrats to Tebow for becoming ESPN’s Academic All American of the Year. He’s the first athlete to earn the award twice and let’s hope that’s on his last repeat this season.

McCoy? after Oklahoma’s 33, the next best passing defense they have played is Colorado’s 56.

Other than the fumbles and interceptions, McCoy’s numbers are impressive. But a few notes:

I went through the numbers and get 38 of 44 quarters played by McCoy. Even if you shave time off if he wasn’t in the victory formation, I don’t get down to 36. But even 36 would be more than the other major candidates.

McCoy has racked up serious yardage against some very bad pass defenses:
#112 UCF – 470 yards, 2 TDs, in 4Q
#88 Kansas – 396 yards, 4 TDs in 3.5Q
#77 Wyoming – 337 yards, 3 TDs in 3.4Q
#101 La-Monroe – 317 yards, 2 TDs, in 3Q

Against pass defenses below 50th:
McCoy: 2897 yards, 22 TDs, 8 INTs, in 34Q

Against pass defenses above 50th:
McCoy: 127 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT in 4Q

By contrast, the majority of Ingram’s and Tebow’s games and stats have been against top 50 defenses.

“Bad stats” don’t negate good stats, duh. If that was the case, Brett Favre would be known as a shitty quarterback (he holds the record in interceptions thrown, however he also holds many honorable records like most yards and td’s)
