The voters will vote as they will vote. Alabama proved this weekend they could win in a crutial game without Ingram doing anything – not sure the same could be said about Texas & McCoy. (what is the purpose of the Heisman award again?)All the pundants claim McCoy will be ineffective at the next level – same thing was said about Joe Montana fresh out of Notre Dame. Time will tell, but a winner is always a winner!

Geoff, you also left off punter. Colt also punted for 33yds to put the ball inside the TAMU 10yd line (8ydline).

Recent BCS trends puts this in category of “Colt’s Heisman to lose” category.

** The last time a NON-BCS team won the Heisman was Ty Detmer (BYU) in 1990.

** Since the BCS was instituted, only ONE person has won the Heisman that did NOT play in a BCS bowl game that year. Guess who? Ricky Williams (1998). Texas went to the 1999 Cotton Bowl.

** Since the BCS was instituted, only THREE players have won the Heisman that did NOT play in the MNC game that same year. (Carson Palmer, Ron Dayne, & R.Williams)

Odds say it comes Colt, Tebow, Ingram. Of the three, Colt is the clear winner.

As a Gator fan, I’d prefer Colt McCoy to win. Seems like winning the Heisman is a curse when it comes to performance in that season’s BCS CG.

Having said that, it seems like the strength of his candidacy is based primarily on: a) mediocre competition within the Heisman field and b) stellar performances against two teams at the end of the season, UCF and T A&M. He was horrible against Texas’ MAIN RIVAL, Oklahoma. If not for his pick six-saving tackle after a 4th quarter INT, Oklahoma would have taken the lead and probably won the game.

As an SEC fan I just wanted to say that Colt played a great game and barring a total melt down against Nebraska or some UNBELIEVABLE game from someone else, Colt is deserving of the Heisman and Texas is worthy to play in the MNC.
