This is it, Mark Ingram. It is that simple. Anyone who knows anything about football at all cannot dispute that Ingram is the one. Mark plays in the toughest conference and has set many records also. I believe all the Heisman candidates are very good. I have watched all the candidates play and Mark is the right pick. The toughest, roughest SEC conference. If the others had to play in the SEC conference they would not be anywhere close to being a contender. I know that is tough to swallow, but the truth is sometimes hard to swallow. Mark Ingram should be this years Heisman.

This should be one sure thing come this sat. Colt McCoy has no business being in N-York for the Heisman presentation, he has not earned it for this year. Nebraska made him look like a 3rd stringer on the Katy JV.

I read on this site where some guys were comparing Lamarr Houston to Ndamakong Suh. Are you kidding me? The has like 30 more tackles, several more sacks, something like 9 or 10 pass breakups, plus a couple blocks. He is freak of nature and manhandled the Texas lineman. I like both schools but Suh is the real deal and is very much deserving of the Heisman.

I don't disagree with the observations about Suh as a player. He is a heck of a player. But if the thought is that if the award goes to a quarterback, a running back, and an occasional receiver it has "lost its luster" that is old news. And, for what it is worth, there is some relationship between the "pusuit of excellence" and winning football games.

I think that running for 100+ yards and receiving for almost 70 against the (former)#1 Gator defense, should put Ingram in the front for the Heisman. He did it all during the SEC Championship game. Just as he did against a tough SEC schedule all season. Plus, he shared duties with 2 other backs.

I agree with what the previous post stated.

If Suh doesn't win the Heisman this year, then it is just and award for Quarterbacks and Running Backs and will lose its luster. I mean, the leading WRs in the nation aren't even getting mention. They rarely (if ever) do.

To say that Tebow is a better football player than Suh is this year is a travesty. Tebow sure didn't look all that special against Bama.

And Colt McCoy? In his head to head matchup against Suh, he passed for 189 yards, ZERO TDs and THREE INTs.

Suh, on the other hand had 11 tackles, 4.5 sacks with 7 of them being tackles for a loss.

To me, Heisman winners should look like Heisman winners on the biggest of stages. No way was Colt the best player on the field last night.

"The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes <b>the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity.</b>" Those words are straight out of The Mission Statement for the Heisman Trust. It has nothing to do with wins in the season. IMHO, there are many deserving candidates including Spiller, Gerhardt, Ingram, Tebow and McCoy. However, the player who is heads and above the rest played defensive tackle; a position that is difficult to garner attention thus he probably won't win. Ndamukong Suh (#93, Nebraska) almost single handedly beat Texas with 4.5 sacks, 12 tackles, a pass break up and 2 QB hurries against the #3 team in the country (that also has the #3 scoring offense in the country). This was accomplished with double and triple teaming, holding on nearly every play and two chop block attempts (resulting in penalties). He is an unstoppable force on the defensive line; not even Warren Sapp was as dominant. I sat in amazement last night in front of the television watching this beast swat away offensive lineman like pesky flies and throw McCoy to the ground like a rag doll.

If Suh doesn't win the Heisman, than it is clear that the Heisman has lost its luster. It will obviously have become nothing more than a popularity contest for the best quarterback or running back in the country. That would be sad....

I agree stats are stats which is why Gerhart should not be in the top 3. Afterall, the top 8 defenses he went against are ranked, at season end in overall defense, 12,21,32,38,42,50,70, and 73. Not a top 10 among them, and only 1 in the top 20. And, by the way, 4 losses. By contrast, Ingram saw (and with the exception of number 51 Auburn consistantly torched) defenses that at year end ranked 4,14,15,16,24,28,51 and 63. Heck, Gerhart's schedule is almost like letting a good back play against the Washington State defense...oh wait....

How can Ingram win when Gerhart has better stats? Seems clear now that McCoy and Tebow are out of the picture. Gerhart should win, as I can think of no argument that would put Ingram or Spiller ahead of him. Stats are stats and no one has better stats than Gerhart.

McCoy and Tebow proved today that they don't deserve consideration for the most outstanding player award. They're only being considered because of pre-season hype and team record. McCoy played horribly in the biggest game of the year, and almost cost his team the NC with his casual 'leadership' on the final drive. Tebow was terrible in the SEC Championship, and shouldn't even be at the ceremony given his mediocre year. If he wasn't so 'Golden Boy', he wouldn't even be considered.

If this award was truly about the most outstanding PLAYER, both Golden Tate and CJ Spiller would be at the ceremony, and one of them would win. It's neither player's fault that they didn't have a supporting cast (in Golden's Tate, he didn't have a defense on his team), and they're both human highlight reels with ridiculous stats, and they always came up big in big situations this year. McCoy? Not at all. Tebow? Not so much.

Ingram, Tate, Spiller, Gerhart should be invited. Tate or Spiller should win.
