Obviously, the events of today have made the Heisman race quite interesting! There was a little twist at the end, if you will. How appropriate.
Here are the questions that will be in my head as I fall asleep tonight. I will have the answers and my final pick for the Heisman tomorrow. In the meantime, feel free to sound off in the comments section below:
1. Colt McCoy throws three picks, but in the end helps Texas eke out a dramatic win to get to the BCS title game. Will the win and the excitement surrounding it drown out his struggles, or will Heisman voters sift through the hooplah and dock him as a result?
2. Mark Ingram scores three big touchdowns as ‘Bama rolls over Florida. But was his 113 rushing yards on 28 carries (4.0 ypc)–plus his 69-yard catch and run–enough to overcome McCoy’s lead heading into this weekend?
3. How much will Ndamukong Suh’s huge night play with Heisman voters in the Southwest and Midwest? Can he siphon off support from McCoy?
4. What about C.J. Spiller? He ran for 233 yards and four touchdowns tonight. He’s not going to New York, but he could get some backing in the Mid-Atlantic region, taking votes away from Ingram.
5. How much will Tim Tebow’s candidacy whittle down Ingram’s Southern base?
6. After all of today’s events, is anyone thinking about Toby Gerhart?
7. What about Devon Cunningham (that Fresno State lineman who caught that 2-point conversoin to beat Illinois) for the Heisman? (just kidding!)
Sound off!

Gerhart should probably win it, but ESPN loves Ingram and won’t. shut. up. about him, so he’ll probably win.
People have such short memories, what did Ingram do last week? Nothing. Yet he is leading the race now, what a joke.
Colt McCoy–essentially dumb luck was the only thing that kept him from becoming chris webber. certainly not heisman worthy. and earlier in the game i had flashbacks to lord spurrier when he kicked a field goal to win it. mccoy was a great punter. but punters don’t get heismans.
my vote
1. Gerhart
2. Ingram
3. Tebow
with Suh and Spiller rightfully being invited to New York as well.
Yes. You can be goddamn sure there are still plenty of people thinking about Toby Gerhart. Best season against the best competition. Period. Nothing tonight changed that. People have short memories. Despite all the attention on the games tonight, let’s not forget how strong Gerhart finished. Last four games included three against teams in the AP top 20. Toby’s numbers: 742 yards (185.5 YPG) and 12 TD’s. No one else comes close. And BTW, Suh is a monster. Can’t give that guy enough props.
One game doesn’t make a season, if it did Ingram would have been out for good last week.
McCoy still has the stats, the record and a shot to win!
Bean you are a homer idiot!
It will end 2 ways.
McCoy, Ingram, Gerhart or
Ingram, McCoy, Gerhart
End of discussion.
How may yards do you think that Gerhart would have gone off today against Texas, Florida or Alabama. I would bet more than 150. Against Nebraska, not so sure.
Gerhart deserves the Heisman.
I think it will be either Ingram or McCoy, but really either of them or Gerhart or Suh would be a good pick. In my mind Suh has been the best player this year, but I can see the case for any of them.
And what about Dion Lewis for 2010 or 2011? That kid is really good.
i may be an idiot but i’m an objective idiot. i revealed my bias by saying ‘lord spurrier.’ yet, i put a pac 10 guy in the number one spot. i would love for tebow to win it, but he only number three in my book.
For those of you saying Gerhart, what is more impressive….
200 yds and 3 tds vs NOTRE DAME
OR
115 yds and 3 tds vs FLORIDA
The answer is pretty simple. And know, Gerhart would not of rushed for more vs Florida. He has played all year vs the krappy defenses of the Pac 10. Not even comparable to the SEC. And to the guy who brought up Ingram’s game last week…
He was ahead of EVERY SINGLE HEISMAN POLL by a landslide (including this one) before that game. Why was he penalized so much because of one bad game? If anything, the game he had today more then made up for it.
Ingram should win the award, period.
With regard to the comparison between Gerhart and Ingram, after looking at their stats a little more closely, it seems hard to argue that Gerhart has played tougher competition.
If you look at the number of carries each back had against each team they played, and multiply that by the average ypc by each of the teams, this is the expected level of performance:
Gerhart: gained 1736 yds; should have gained 1316 yds (4.23 ypc)–32% better than expected
Ingram: gained 1440 yds; should have gained 938 yds (3.94 ypc)–54% better than expected
(For the record, I did not include Ingram’s game against UT-C in these numbers.)
For my money, Ingram was the more impressive back (especially considering his better receiving numbers), but Gerhart was more prolific, especially when you add in the TDs.
I’d probably go with Ingram for the Heisman, given that his team is undefeated and will likely be ranked first in the country–and considering that he’s BY FAR the primary offensive threat on his team, given Julio Jones’ rather modest total of 42 catches this season. But I think you can certainly make a case for both of them.
1. Gerhart
2. McCoy
3. Ingram
4. Suh
5. Spiller
Tebow doesn’t warrant a top 5 finish based on his season. All he really had going for him was “QB of the #1 team” and his team just got waxed by 3 TDs.
I should clarify–there’s no doubt that Gerhart is the primary offensive threat on Stanford, just as Ingram is for Bama.
But the argument for Ingram is more that he happens to be the primary threat on the top-ranked team, not that he’s the primary threat as opposed to Gerhart.
Gerhart you myopic aholes. Florida had a swiss cheese defense against The same basic team thrashed by UTAH last bowl season. Gerhart gaines 200 plus against these morons easy. Fack the SEC myth. There D’s come out statistically shiny because SEC offenses SUCK……Gerhart Earned The Heisman. SEC worshippers kiss my ass. Toby Gerhart is the man…watch here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVf_74OGjDE
Toby Gerhart deserves the thing. McCoy sucked. Tebow CRIED a bunch…CRIED? Ingam did good but FLORIdA’s D is overrated…Toby G runs people over go look at that tape fools.
SEC defenses are overrated. They generat “good” numbers because SEC offenses are shitty. Fack the SEC….give the thing to one of the college teams with student athletes who attend class.
Didnt GERHART gain more yards 1800 and score more touchdowns 26 than the other running back at the top of the list? What gives? I hate the bullshit ESPN/EAst coast bias of this award. Screw the Heisman Hype crap. Give the damn award to the best achierver…GERHART FOOLS.
If I were a voter I would vote the following:
1. Suh
2. Gerhart
3. Ingram
I understand you get to vote for three. Maybe we can have our own “heisman pundit” vote and tabulate the heismanpundit winner.
This column illustrates the BS of the Hype and the BS that is the Heisman Pundit. What crap. The one guy who didn’t get the chance to play tonight…GERHART…who in only 12 games outgained and outscored opponents WAY WAY beyond what InGram did in 13 games…against more top 25 opponents in those games…that guy…GERHART gets totally disenfranchised by the so-called HEISMAN PUNDIt……when in fact the WISEGUYS who know college football see Gerhart as the best of the bunch….that HEIsMan PUNdit must then be a fraud…FRAUD……If yo have a first place Heisman vote an you pick anyone other than Gerhart…you are a foul piece of waste.
TOBY GERHART deserves the 2009 HEISMAN…
Some of you people are bloody maroons.
“They generat (sic) good numbers because SEC offenses are shitty.”?
What about when they hold an Oklahoma offense that is the most prolific in college football in the last century–702 points during the regular season–to 14 points, as Florida did last season? Are they generating good numbers because Big 12 offenses are actually shitty too?
Gerhart is a quality back but he’s certainly not been markedly better than Ingram this season. At best it’s a wash between them.
College football is broad an diverse. There needs to be a playoff like March Madness to decide who’s best. UTAH beating BAMA last year is a great example…or the lousy TExas Nebraska game tonight…Oregon would have put up 50 on Florida tonight there’s no doubt. A playoff is the only answer…constant berating of the public about how the SEC is a professional league with athletes who dont atten classes is just too much…In the end the student athlete deserves the award. GERHART is one of those…give it to GERHART.
McCoy STUNK. Tebow CRIED. Ingram pulled back from his 20 yards last week…but come on…GERHART would have easily pulled 200 on Florida…there D is just plain overrated because they play crappy opponents…so…give it to GERHART.
[...] the story on Topix Posted in [...]
Toby Gerhart: More TD’s in November than Ingram’s entire regular season.
And how can you be a Heisman winning RB when your backup is better than you (and Trent Richardson is no Barry Sanders)?
This shouldn’t be close.
Well of course SEC defenses are the best STATISTICALLY when 1/3 of their games are against FCS opponents.
The Pac-10 played real competition and won. Just remember that the 5th/6th best team in the Pac-10 beat the Big Ten champ at their house (and the fact that the conference is rewarded with likely two BCS bowl bids is another issue). That should speak for the level of competition in the Pac-10.
Sure, Ingram had one bad game against Auburn, but McCoy has now had two really bad games. Throwing 127 yds and a pick against unranked Oklahoma, and now 180 yds and three picks against soon to be unranked Nebraska. He only had to really show up for two decent games all year, and he flubbed on both occasions.
So which is a bigger game that one would expect the Heisman candidate to perform well in? The last game of the year against the #1 team in the nation who had won something like 20 games in a row, or against a barely ranked team with zero offense?
Texas going to the BCS championship game is a disgrace, and McCoy even being considered for the Heisman after that crappy performance, only diminishes the integrity of the award.
1. Gerhart
2. Ingram
3. Tebow
4. Spiller
These four should be invited to NY. McCoy doesn’t deserve an invite for this season… obviously they wouldn’t show his highlights for Nebraska. I think Ingram will win it and probably deserves it.
yes, Colt had a bad game. However, it was expected against that Nebraska Defense. Yes, Ingram had a good game, but so did the other two runners. Their third stringer had a decent game.
Ingram, had a bad game against Auburn. he went out of the game with a hip pointer. Heisman winners don’t go out of the game. they find a will and a way to play and to win.
Colt found that will even with a ripped thumb nail in his throwing hand. Even with the flu when he was throwing up on the sideline. Even with bronchitis.
I keep hearing about how Ingram doesn’t deserve the Heisman because Alabama played against three cupcake teams. I suppose the logic here is that these games helped pad his stats, but a closer look tells a different story. But within those three, Ingram averaged less than ten carries per game, because these games were used to allow their backups get some work in. For example, against North Texas, Alabama rushed 45 times, but Ingram only carried the ball 8 times. Critics count this as a game where he “didn’t even get 100 yds” but they don’t seem to consider the fact that he averaged nearly 12 yds per carry and the game was a blow out. So Gerhart has higher numbers, but he also has more carries per game. Ingram averages 19 rushes per game, Gerhart averages 26 rushes per game.
So ultimately my point is that these three cupcake teams didn’t help Ingram at all because it meant less playing time. They hindered Ingram because if they were typical SEC teams then he would have been given more opportunities to rush for 150+ yds as he had done all year when given the opportunity.
Dave, this is the Heisman we are talking about here, not an “Iron Man” competition. It is about the most outstanding performances, not the most admirable durability. Yes, Ingram left the Auburn game, but it was late in the fourth quarter, and Auburn had 8 men in the box all day spying Ingram.
But a Heisman winner doesn’t show up in the conference championship game and throw three INTs and zero TDs. He doesn’t lead a team to barely 200 yds of total offense. He doesn’t have to rely on the defense to win the game for him… as it has all throughout the season.
McCoy has been a poser all year. He broke that silly NCAA record for most wins due to circumstance. Few QBs get to play four full seasons on a great defensive team in a mediocre conference.
He was expected to show up and produce in the big games, and the only two fairly decent teams they have had to play all year, were against unranked Oklahoma and unranked Nebraska. He combined for barely 300yds and four interceptions and only one TD. Did you know that the only ranked team Texas has played is now barely ranked OSU?
Ingram played against five ranked teams and three top ten teams including the #1 team in the nation. They didn’t just beat them, they clobbered them. Florida didn’t even score the entire second half!!
I’m about as big a Longhorns fan as possible and I think I can speak for Colt McCoy here, we really don’t care if he wins the Heisman as long as we win the crystal football!
Hell, give it to Ingram. That way we can extend the “Heisman Curse” in the NC game!
Colt McCoy helped Eek out a vic? Oh, I don’t think so! Voters sat up and took notice of the fact that despite Colt, the Horns were able to win. It was very juicy penalty for horse collaring that gave Texas the win. Colt tried to lob the vic into the stands with his stupid, very stupid “throw away” pass! Voters were watching!
Colt won’t win the Crystal either, Leland. What you saw last night and on Thanksgiving is what Texas is–A schizophrenic Team depending upon the point of applied pressure, struggles! Against A&M whose defense is 100th in the nation played as expected and nothing more! Where was the pounding? Didn’t happen. What did happen was the #7 offense in the country embarrassed Texas’ supposed amazing defense. All agree Texas Defense didn’t show up, instead choosing to sit that one out. If A&M would have had any type of defense (any type!) Texas would be very sad. Heck, A&M didn’t even need have any defense improvement. All they needed was to make three tackles and we would be talking a very different game today. Nebraska emabarrassed Texas, period. No offense, yet was able fourth quarter spook Texas out of its prestige. Bama will clown rape Texas! And the world will see it!
Look, we all know McCoy is going to win it. Last night was tough, but the guy was sacked 9 times. It’s Ok to give Ingraham a hall pass because “8 guys were spying on him all game” but not McCoy who was harrassed by one of the best defensive lines in the country? One of his receivers dropped a sure TD that would have gone for 80 yards. One of his interceptions was really a fumble.
But you know what? HE WON!!!! That’s the key – he found a way to win. You can talk all you want about luck and penalties, but he’s a winner, 45 times to be exact.
All this talk about Gerhart is just from PAC 10 blowhards whose conference stunk like a chicken coop this year (talk about bad conferences). His team lost 4 times. He’s had a few good games, so what? BFD! And yes if ran last night against Texas he might have had to leave the game with a hip pointer just like Ingraham hobbled away last week (Give Ingraham some Vagisil but certainly not the Heisman).
McCoy deserves it – he toughed it out last night and brought another win back to Austin. He has Texas in the NC, has great stats ALL YEAR even while not playing most 4th quarters, is the undisputed leader of the team, and has won more games in the history of college football. It shouldn’t even be close.
Mickey,
Back in ‘05, I seem to remember just having to show up in Pasadena to hand the crystal football to the greatest team of all time, USC.
Care to wager, say, an entry into next years Heisman Pundit Fantasy Challenge? Straight up, I take the ‘Horns, you take ‘Bama.
At Alabama, we play for national titles instead of hanging our hopes on rooting for individual awards. You Standford and West Coast worshipers keep your individual trophies…. we’ll just keep adding on the national titles.
No way Colt McCoy wins after last night’s poor performance. Even the last play will give voters a bad taste.
Between Gerhart and Ingram. Tough call. Ingram being more well known and playing for a team in the national championship game may make the difference.
With McCoy and Tebow out, it clearly comes down to Ingram and Gerhart.
If you were picking teams on the sandlot, who would you go with based on this season?
Objectively, the SEC and the Pac-10 were probably the best conferences this year. Ingram’s a very good back. But Gerhart is special and changes defenses – he singlehandedly changes them from statistically good to statistically bad. He wears them out. By the fourth quarter he literally cannot be tackled.
If Gerhart played on Alabama, they wouldn’t have had a close game. What’s disappointing from a fan’s perspective is that he will likely only get mediocre competition in his bowl game. I’d love to see a Stanford Alabama game – not that Stanford should be in the NC game, obviously, but it would just be fun to watch. Alabama-Texas is a let down.
Dear Messrs. Dave and Leland, Please. First, address my point, Leland…or, Dave? Please explain why Texas struggles. Please shed some light on its failure to click on all cylinders. Where was the win this year that screamed, “Wow! Texas is the real deal” (let’s not even get into Texas’ schedule, which basically included some intramurals and the night crew at KFC). Dave, do you think simply winning is enough? Let’s have a little lesson here in College Football. Winning is enough in a play off system. Whereas, in a vote/stat system (which is what we have), you must dazzle. Has Texas dazzled? Your post, Dave, says NO! According to you, simply winning is important. Wrong! With respect to Vince Young in 2005, his performance was remarkable, but Colt is nowhere near the player Vince was/is. Yes, he is a prodigy, but that’s it. Dr. Debake was the greatest heart surgeon to ever live. Can you name any of his prodigy? No. Because they were close, but not exact. When Vince was up against USC and down, he turned to Colt and said, “Watch this…”. Colt was down last night and he certainly didn’t want anyone to watch (and he hopes the H voters won’t remember) him almost throw his team’s national championship hopes in the stands with his very, very poorly decided “throw away” pass. Did you see the look on his face? I did and so did the H voters. Now, Bama next year for the challenge? I will take J Jerrod of Texas A&M. His performance against Texas’ high acclaimed Defense caused the whole world to sit up and take notice. My dear friends, Dave and Leland, Mack Brown needs rethink this whole champ thing and instead take his team to Disney World. Its a lot of fun, safe, and in this economy a bargain and, no would hold it against Mack after last night’s pitiful performance. Save your recruiting class, Mack! Don’t do it!
I meant to say progeny, rather than prodigy. Sorry, redneck in me coming out…
I’m happy to speak up again, but Mickey there’s really no theme in your argument other than the undercurrent of dislike for Texas. Lots of random points.
On VY compared to CM? Who cares? Sure Vince should have won the Heisman too, but he was “out dazzled” by Reggie Bush, whose shitting of the bed during that game contributed to Texas’ win. How dazzling was that?
On the throw with 1 second left, I ask you, was there time left on the clock or not? As much as folks may despise this truth, the fact is that there was time left on the clock. Did CM know this? Well he says he did, so why should we not believe him?
On Dazzling stats? So, Mack Brown should have CM in every game to the final minute, so he could have more “Dazzling” stats?
On a team being “The Real Deal”? I didn’t hear you bring up the SEC officiating that saved Alabama’s ass in the LSU game. Or their “dazzling” 12-10 win over highly ranked Tennessee (oops Tennessee is NOT EVEN RANKED). And when your friend Ingraham cried “mommy mommy, my hip hurts please take me out of the most important game we have had all year or I will just die!”. Oh yeah, I forgot that Alabama is “The Real Deal” so you can’t ask any of these questions. Short, selective memories are so convenient.
Net net, leaders are expected to win, whatever it takes. Our society, for better or worse, values winners, not “tryers” and in college football, “dazzlers” alone are not good enough”. Ask Dazzler Toby Gerhart where he will be on January 7? And Tim Tebow? And Spiller? And Suh? Maybe they can all have a “Dazzling” loser’s party and watch the game together, and reminisce about their “dazzling” performances, which were not good enough to help their teams win enough games. Oh but boy did they “Dazzle”. Alot of good that did them.
One thing is for sure, it will be fun to watch Texas and Alabama for all the marbles. Thanks to Colt McCoy for leading Texas to Pasadena with his “Dazzling” season.
If you watched the Big XII title game, it was very clear who the most outstanding player on the field was – Ndamukong Suh of Nebraska. Anyone who puts McCoy ahead of Suh is giving a lifetime achievement award and not choosing the most outstanding college football player.
Hey Bare Bryant. Be sure to turn your head a little so the SEC boy doesnt get it in your eye.
Bottom line is GERHART earned the Heisman…He leads Nation in total yards and TD’s in fewer games than others. 1800 Yards…26 TD’s…Ingram got something like 20 yards vs. Auburn last week…20 yards for Ingram?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVf_74OGjDE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVf_74OGjDE
I Just watched that youtube footage of G-hart. OMG. WTF? How can there be any question.
In Ingrams 20 yard game vs. Auburn he did average 2.1 yards per carry. Not bad huh!…remember Auburn is SEC where defenses are “the best”. Right? See UTAH v. BAMA January, 2009.
I’d love to see Oregon Ducks take on the overrated D’s of the SEC. Oregon easily posts 50 on either bama or florida. Easy.
You’re probably right the Ducks would thrash those D’s we saw last night. LaGarrette Blount adds a dimension to that offense that makes the ducks the best O in America. Too bad there’s no playoff. Ducks would be there with the trophy in the end. It’s criminal.
What if we made Allstar backfields from the PacTen vs the SEC…who would be better….I guess i think the Pac Ten eh. That’s funny.
McCoy really really stunk. Texas got lucky and stunk. Tebow stunk. My god he stunk now i see why he will fail in the NFL. Ingram did gain 22 yards vs. Auburn last week not 20. I think, based on the link above showing Gerheart running people over and making 26 scores and more yards running than the others…its a no brainer. But, then this isn’t a thinking mans award is it. Gerheart will get screwed and Ingram will get it. Sorry Toby that’s life. Have fun.
Gerhart’s TD’s and extra yardage is nice but it comes from a product of the offensive nature of the pac 10. Most of the games turn into shoot outs with fast paced offense thus there are more scores/touches out there.
Stanford scores resemble the defunct arena football league.
Very raw but Ingram averaged 6.68 yards per touch to Gerhart’s 5.87 yards per touch.
Dave, Sorry for the random nature of my points. I felt it best two respond to two people at once. Maybe a mistake. My apologies. Notwithstanding, I agree with you WHO CARES ABOUT VINCE! I was simply responding to Leland, who apparently has a small shrine in his closet to all things Texas. With respect to the one second throw issue, it will go down in history as one of the luckiest moments in college football. Clearly Colt was not paying attention, a defect not found in the greatest of the great. Heisman voters were puzzled, I am sure. In regards to Bama, last night was the “Wow game” I described all college football teams need in a season. I will let it speak for itself. Oh, there will be a Dazzler party. Its called the Heisman invitation and all of the cast of characters you named will be invited or, deserve to be invited. Lastly, you didn’t answer any of questions. Instead of answering, you danced like an topless exotic dancer in a room full of muslim psychiatrists. Your failure to answer leads me to conclude my points are right on target. Texas is luke warm at best. Texas is no longer the Texas Longhorns, they are the Tepid Longhorns who never had any marbles to begin with. It was all hype and Nebraska and TAMU pulled back the curtain on OZ! Colt needs to grab the center piece from the Heisman dinner, because that is all he will be taking home. Keep pushing the “on paper win” theory, I am sure it makes for good pepto for the huge knot in your stomach caused by all of the dissonace. Texas will lose and badly. They have no season to be proud of. There is no dazzle, only excuses. God bless you Dave!
Yea, Dave! My Honda gets 27 mpg on paper and beats most cars, but you don’t hear me screaming about and I doubt anyone cares. On paper, Ha! LoL.
Here is a good article on Texas Schedule. Weak! Weak! and did I mention weak. How can anyone possible take Colt serious?
http://austinist.com/2009/09/03/weak_teams_on_schedule_have_texas_o.php
I only wrote the first note, none of the rest.
Ingram was only the second best runner yesterday. Buchanan had more yards per carry.
Even colt would have put up 200 against Florida.
I don’t care who wins Heisman. We will see you in January. May the best team win.
Since apparently one week won’t take a person out of Heisman contention… Colt should win the Heisman. He took a team that can’t run at all to the National Championship Game.
That Iowa State beat that Nebraska team is a freakin miracle!!!!
I’m a McCoy fan, but Suh is the best player in the country. Runs like a cornerback and hits like a freight train.
If Gerhart doesn’t win the award it’s simply racisim at its best.
So you’re saying he will fail in the NFL b/c his o-line sucks? I’m not saying he had a good game(cuz he didn’t) but EVERYONE fails when they have 0 time to throw the football. His o-line gave him no chance yesterday, and if Kirkendoll just catches a wide open on the money pass from colt and Buckner doesn’t let the ball get ripped out of his hands, his stats are more like this: 22-35 265 yards td 2 ints ru td. and they would have won 20-9
he shouldn’t win the heisman but, it was more his receivers (except shipley and Williams) and more importantly his o-line, that caused his horrible performance yesterday. and one of his picks was just tipped at the line to go with buckner’s weak hands.
Suh was as fast as everyone but the corners and some receivers yesterday, he is REDICULOUS, ps: was at the game, and Nebraska fans are very respectful and classy, very kind people.
Most years, Gerhart and Igram wouldn’t be in the discussion frankly. Adrian Peterson never won a Heisman and he was twice the college back as either of them. What Suh did this year at Nebraska may not be replicated for 20 years. He is the most outstanding player and more deserving than a bunch of “very good” QB’s and RB’s.
Why anyone would still put that disgrace Tebow on their ballot after he cried like a baby is beyond me.
1) Gerhart
2) Suh
3) Spiller
There are really only 3 players that deserve this award right now:
Gerhart, Ingram, Suh
Either one could win and I would be happy. If I had a vote, my ballot would read:
1. SUH
2. GERHART
3. INGRAM
Running backs need to score touchdowns. Toby came through with more touchdowns in his last four games (against oregon, usc, cal and nd) then Ingram had the entire regular season.
Why did Ingram disappear when his team need him most? When the other team was expecting him? Toby has 26 TDs because he came through. CASE CLOSED.
1. Gerhart – In addition to crushing the others statistically, none of the other has meant so much to his team as Gerhart. Furthermore, he has had his best games against the strongest competition. Clearly the best college player of the year.
2. Suh – deserves 2nd place, but as a defender won’t get it. He will probably get 1st place in the draft, so no loss for him.
3. Pick any of the three players who choked the last 2 weeks:
Tebow already has one. Seriously, you could have put 10 other quarterbacks in his place this year and Florida would have had 0-1 losses. He looked terrible last night. A pick in the end zone! Balls thrown at his player’s feet!
McCoy: 3 Picks last night. Almost gave the game away because of bad clock management in the end, and lucked out by having his kicker win the game for him. In the biggest game of the year, he was at best the 13th best player on his team (behind the defense and the kicker).
Ingram: Great game last night. Over 100 yards rushing, scored 3 TD’s. Caught 70 yards. But – he did poorly last game, 64 of his receiving yards came of one catch, and on a comparable national stage (Oregon, USC, Notre Dame), Gerhart would have rushed for 200 yeards! His stats are crushed by Gerhart – 26 touchdowns rushing and 1 TD throwing! Ingram is the 2nd best RB on this list.
Colt McCoy has shown why he doesn’t deserve the heisman and why Texas will lose in the BCS. They faced two solid defenses this year. The first was Oklahoma… who with Sam Bradford would have rolled Texas. Then there was Nebraska… who by their own mistakes allowed Texas to win. If McCoy wins the heisman after showing that he can’t handle a decent defense, then the heisman is the biggest sham in the world (although most know that anyway…) and we’d have the proof.
Last note… the Gerhardt versus Ingram debate. Ingram ran against an AU bear defense (look it up if you don’t know what that means). Basically he ran against 8 and 9 in the box. Gerhardt has played chump competition all year long. Yeah yeah… they beat USC… guess what – so did everyone else. CASE CLOSED! Ingram deserves it over anyone on that list.
Ingram had 19 yards vs. Auburn last week. He doesnt derserve anything. Gerhart would easily have had 200 against the AU bear defense. Acoustialrooz be sure to turn your head so the SEC boy don’t shoot it in your eye. You pussy ass chump.
That Fresbone is right about picking any of the three others who choked the last two weeks. Gerhart works harder than all of them…watch his reel…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVf_74OGjDE
I like how every post Ingram’s yardage total agains Auburn keeps shrinking.
30 yards
22 yards
20 yards
19 yards
You guys are silly (It was 30 BTW on 16 carries. and 21 more receiving)
It is painfully obvious that Suh is head and shoulders above everyone else in college football. Absolute animal.
