My mind says ‘Bama but my gut says Texas.

Will the Heisman curse do in the Tide?

Will Texas be hampered by its relatively weak season schedule?

I think that if Greg McElroy plays well, then Alabama wins going away.  If he struggles, then I think Texas ekes it out.  There is no fabled SEC speed advantage in this game–though you can expect to hear about it a lot tonight, despite Texas having more fast guys overall–but I do give Nick Saban the coaching advantage over Mack Brown.

The wildcards are the return units of both teams, especially Texas.  Look out for D.J. Monroe, Jordan Shipley and Marquise Goodwin.

My (tenuous) pick: Alabama 23, Texas 21

  1. Nobody is talking about the Texas defense, despite being the #1 rushing defense in the nation. If they show up like they did against Nebraska, McElroy and Ingram will be in for a long night.

    Texas 24
    Alabama 17

  2. I’m not sure who wins this game but I bet it is at least a six point win. These games rarely live up to the hype. I’ll go 27-17 with Bama on top.

  4. I see this game being close for a quarter, then Bama breaks loose.

    GO SEC!!! GO GATORS!!!

  5. Curse. I see a curse as something that takes forever to be broken. Matt Leinart already broke that jinx.

  6. UTalan, ya texas’s rush defense were really great huh? i mean the big 12 is known for their running game…pff…playing a fast team like bama from the sec, texas didn’t have a chance on defense. maybe with mccoy in their offense could have won it, dunno though.
