well I be damn...an honest bammer fan? Glen I agree with most of your assessment of lil nicky. I despise him as a person but the SOB seems to be able to win. I do think he's a lil shady and not exactly a moral role model. I love to shoot the shit with my Bama buddies and actually respect the attention they bring my home state. Hate losing to y'all but when the game and it is a game is over life goes on....be it a lil sadder for a while. lol
I didn't like lil nicky before he showed up at LSwho and sure didn't like the exit from Miami. I also didn't care for Tubby leavin ol piss after saying it would be in a pine box if he did so. Then we tossed a suitcase full of $$$$$ at him and low and behold he shows up on the plains sones the pine box. Then again I didn't like the jetgate crap that was pulled with the current hawg coach. (can't bear to say his name) lol
By the way congrats on the glass trophy and hope you can see my team hoist one in the near future cause this once young boy has grown old waitin. Glen take care and War Eagle to misguided RTR man.

Even as a Bama fan, I'm not a huge fan of Nick Saban as a human being, but "shady" ain't the word. He's just an asshole, and pretty upfront about it. So far as I can tell, and I'm watching pretty closely, his ethics and integrity are of a high order.

Under Saban, Bama has featured running, but it's at least a viable theory to say that we've done that because that's where our talent has been. Now we're signing top QBs and top receivers and that talent balance may be about to shift.

Last year we had Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson as running backs, and Greg McElroy as QB. Nothing against McElroy, because he's a pretty decent QB, but you see where the weight of the talent lies. Nevertheless we threw about 30 times a game.

Every indication has been that Saban's desire has been to build a balanced offense. Like I said in my initial post above, the team has all the pieces except for a top QB, and I expect the Tide's passing game to take a larger role in the offense once that piece is in place - which is only a matter of time, and hopefully not much of it.

p.s. I'm not the world's biggest fan of Nick Saban as a human being, but I don't think "shady" really has any basis in fact. The man may be an asshole, but he's up-front about it. I've been watching pretty closely since he has been at Alabama, and everything I've seen from him on the ethics and integrity front has been pretty admirable.

Yeah, there are some questions about how he left Miami, but you know Huizenga, who knows more about the matter than you or I, gave Saban has blessing to leave after they talked privately. And really, it's kind of not doable to be a successful coach somewhere you don't want to be.

I don't wave that affair off entirely, but neither do I draw too many conclusions about. I simply don't know what went on behind the scenes; I don't know what discussions Saban and Huizenga had at the beginning or at the end of that Miami job, and I don't know what kind of discussions Saban had with his wife. Given how up-front and honest Saban has seemed at Alabama, I'm not convinced that he was the weasely back-stabbing bastard then that the media made him out to be.

I would probably take that bet. Alabama doesn't run a dynamic offense that lends itself to a lot of quick strike scoring. Their physicality and defense are their strengths that shape their identity. I think The Heisman is still a QB's to lose, and Alabama isn't the type of program to attract those dynamic QBs. The way I see it, is if Alabama is contending for National Titles under that shady coach of theirs, I suspect that their QB won't be putting up gaudy numbers.

I would still take Florida, Texas, or USC in the Heisman tally for the next decade.

(I had to throw in that barb. I detest Nick Saban.)

Well, yeah, back in the past Bama players didn't win Heismans; but recent history may be a sign that trend is not something to count on much during the coming decade.

So whattadya take, history or recent events? As for me, I'll put my money on Bama players winning Heismans this decade vs any other single team, even Notre Dame, even (gasp) USC. I'd almost bet straight up that we get at least two more - almost but not quite.

Nope never rubber it in cause they did have much more deserving candidates over the years. But when the bahr was at bammer team came first and playing time was split amongst the kids that could git er done. He had so much depth most seasons he ran whole new squads in and out on offense.
Yep they were broke cause of all the money they spend on players like Albert Means and then lawyers to defend em against the NCAA. lol But bammer and lil nicky have connections since both have long since sold their souls for won more championship.
All BS aside this was a weak bammer team compared to past SEC teams in the BCS Title Game.
