Thank you.
I dont think “modest proposals” are actually supposed to be serious…
Hire Ron Meyer and find the next Eric Dickerson and Craig James RB combo and you’ve got yourself a nostalgic nucleus for Southwestern Conference dominance.
Even though Jonathan Swift would agree with the Anonymous poster about when to use the phrase “a modest proposal” I’m a fan of the title that caught my attention.
Nah…makes too much sense (non-financially speaking). Besides it includes too many of those dirty have-nots.
no thanks.
Dear Arkansas fan,
Oh, maybe not….

If we could poach LSU also, the Big XII would be a pretty good conference (AND numerically correct; whodathunkit).
Who is LSU’s big rival in the SEC? I don’t remember anything along the lines of a Auburn-Alabama or a Florida-Georgia rivalry, so maybe grabbing LSU isn’t ridiculously impossible. Just highly unlikely.
Tulane use to be LSU’s big rival but I believe that series has been discontinued. By the way, I do believe The Green Wave was in the SEC once apon a time.
The bammer game is big for the tiggers as is the one with Ole Miss. So far as a rivalry like AU-UA? They ain’t but one of dem thar Iron Bowls. Sure Florida-Gawja is hyped as big but not even UGa and GT compares to the Iron Bowl. Have to look at games like daOSU-UM, USC-ND, UT-TA&M and in the old big 8..UO-Nebraska.
How bout UT,A&M,TT,Baylor,SMU,Houston,Rice,Okie,Okie State,Kansas,Mizzu and Iowa State? Could also consider Tulane, Memphis, Tulsa and Southern Miss if you wanyted a so called super conference. All those teams are a fit geographically and would open the TV market to the deep south if Tennessee, Louisiana and Mississippi schools were added. All three schools have tradionally played a semi SEC schedule, at least until joining their current conference.
If the SEC were to add 4 teams Southern Miss, FSU, Clemson and UNC would be good fits for travel and TV market reasons. Texas Ttams joining the SEC ain’t a gonna happen anytime soon……not unless A&M revolts and succeeds from the State of Texas.
ooops Kansas State might wanna join that new conference too. Maybe 16 teams would actually work better for that conference.
