USC to Return Bush’s Heisman

In accordance with the NCAA’s wishes that USC disassociate itself with Reggie Bush, USC has decided to return its copy of the 2005 trophy to the Heisman Trust.

Note that this does not mean that the award for 2005 has been vacated, as Bush still has his copy and the Trust has yet to rule on the matter.

They’ll have to pry the Heisman from Bush’s cold dead hands. And if they didn’t request OJ to return his trophy what makes anyone think they’ll ask Bush to return his?

cause OJ didn’t kill anyone, that we know over that is, untill many moons after winnin the Heisman. Bush was on the take when he won it and that makes the Heisman Folks look rather foolish. Had he been caught back then he wouldn’t have been eligible for the award whereas OJ was never in trouble, again…that we know of, while at USC. Just my lil ol opinion.

You’re right that Bush’s indiscretions occurred while he was winning the award.

There are widely held beliefs and some circumstantial evidence that Charles Woodson was in contact with and took benefits from an agent during his Heisman year but he denied it and the NCAA declared the evidence inconclusive. From what I can see the NCAA never did a full court press investigation like with USC and Bush. The Touchdown Club has never even hinted that they might take Woodson’s Heisman away, and in the end I don’t think they will ask for Bush’s either. Even if they do why should Reggie comply? What could they do to him?

This is all for show. Bush’s trangressions didn’t make him faster, stronger or give him a competitive advantage.
