Picking This Week’s Games

Off to a rotten start so far, what else is new?  Went 3-6-1 against the spread last week, though there were a couple of close calls.  Let’s try it again this week, all lines courtesy of Doc Sports:

Auburn at Mississippi State (55 points)–I like the OVER on this one.  The Tigers have struggled defensively of late and the Bulldog are much improved offensively.  I look for a shootout with Auburn coming out on top tonight.

Auburn 41, Mississippi State 31

Hawaii at Army (52.5 points)–I like the OVER on this one, too.  Hawaii is a dynamic offensive team and has one of the worst defenses around.  Lots of scoring, but Army pulls it out.

Army 35, Hawaii 34

Michigan at Notre Dame (52 points)–Yet another attractive OVER pick.  Both offenses should march up and down the field.  This one will be as entertaining as they come.  Notre Dame’s defense will be slightly better though and pull out the win.

Notre Dame 38, Michigan 34

South Florida (+16) at Florida–Florida will start to get its act together in this game, but I don’t think the Gators can completely shut down B.J. Daniels.

Florida 28, South Florida 16

Oregon (-12) at Tennessee–The Duck machine keeps rolling now that LaMichael James is back.  Darron Thomas has another solid game.

Oregon 42, Tennessee 24

Stanford (-6) at UCLA–The passing and running of Andrew Luck turns this game from a tight one into a comfortable Cardinal win.

Stanford 38, UCLA 23

Miami (+8.5) at Ohio State–Battle royale between Terrelle Pryor and Jacory Harris, with Miami getting the outright win thanks to a breakout performance by Lamar Miller.

Miami 23, Ohio State 20

Oklahoma (-7.5) vs. Florida State–I like the Sooners to bounce back from a tepid week one performance.   The secondary tightens up and OU wins solidly.  Another good game for DeMarco Murray.

Oklahoma 31, Florida State 20

Iowa (-14) vs. Iowa State–Iowa gets off to a quick start behind the running of Adam Robinson and then the Hawkeye defense takes over.

Iowa 28, Iowa State 10

Rice (+2.5) at North Texas–Rice played Texas tough last week and puts it all together this time around.  Sam McGuffie has a couple highlight reel runs.

Rice 34, North Texas 24
