Since playing teams from non-BCS conferences is a pet-peeve of yours, why do you have 3 teams in your top 5 who have played almost entirely non-BCS schedules?
Seems silly to complain about this and then reward it.
As a general rule I leave your rankings alone, but having Utah at #5 doesn’t seem to have been thought through.
Utah’s best win is a home win (in OT) against 5-3 Pitt. Their second best win was a skin-of-their-teeth escape against 5-4 AFA. The bottom line is that this Utah team is only marginally better than those very average Pitt and Air Force squads.
Further, the only truly impressive win they have had was a shellacking of Iowa State. But I am not sure how this distinguishes them from Iowa or Oklahoma, other than that, unlike those squads, the other teams they’ve played have been rubbish.
There’s just no reason to be impressed by this Utah team, unless putting up 45 ppg against pretty much nobody impresses you. How they are in anyone’s Top 10 is a mystery to me.
I’m with you Solon. Does anybody seriously think Utah beats ANY of the the teams ranked 6-10 on a neutral field?
The rules are different here for non-BCS teams.
By this ranking shouldn’t the winner of the TCU-Utah game face the winner of the Bama-Auburn game for the title assuming none of the teams involved loses to another team?
Is Stanford really better than ‘bama. I hate how much credit Bama gets for winning a title against a team without their QB, but at least they don’t lose games when they are spotted an 18 point lead. Alabama would not allow anyone to score 50 points on them, and I think it took a GREAT effort from South Carolina to put 35 on them. God all of these 1-loss teams look so mediocre. Nebraska lost to a 4-4 Texas team at home. Just, everyone looks so weak. The top teams of 2 years ago, (Florida, Bama, Texas, USC, and OU) would kill any of the teams in CFB this year.
