Cameron Newton Wins the 76th Heisman Trophy

Auburn junior quarterback Cameron Newton is the winner of the 76th Heisman Trophy.

Newton won the award with 2,263 points, beating out second place Andrew Luck of Stanford (1,079).  LaMichael James was third (916) and Kellen Moore was fourth (635).

He becomes the third Tiger to win the coveted trophy, which goes to college football’s most outstanding player.  He’s also the second-straight player to win the award playing for a team located in the state of Alabama.

Newton won all six of the voting regions and collected 729 first-place votes.  He was left off of 105 ballots, most likely because of the series of pay-for-play allegations that followed him in recent weeks.

Here is the complete top 10:

1. Cameron Newton, 2,263 points

2. Andrew Luck, 1,079 points

3. LaMichael James, 916 points
