Pre-Heisman Presser Highlights

We just live-streamed the pre-Heisman presser on the screen at the top of the site.  We’ll be streaming the post-ceremony presser as well a few minutes after the Heisman is awarded.

In the meantime, here are some highlights from the pre-ceremony press conference:

Geno Toretta, Heisman winner ’92, moderated the conference

Cam Newton held court.  “That quote was innacurate,” he stated, referring to the allegation that he told Mississippi State coaches that he had to go to Auburn because the ‘money was just too much’.  Newton also praised his teammates and Auburn fans for believing in him.  Does he have a speech prepared? “We’ll see what happens,” he said.

Andrew Luck pointed to Stanford’s win over Cal as a special moment of his season.  “We got The Axe back and that was very important to us,” he said.

LaMichael James admitted he wasn’t close to being fully healthy during the season’s final weeks.  “I was probably 75% in that last game,” he said.

Kellen Moore: “We play with a chip on our shoulders every game.”
