You are nuts, if you don’t name Dan Persa of Northwestern
I totally agree. Had to scan this list twice because i thought his name would be there. Dan deserves to be there and is arguably the most valuable player to his team in the nation. They were in shambles without him running the offense.
what about the best wr in the country? alshon jeffery from the university of south carolina. if anyone has ever seen this kid play ball they truly saw the best in college football today at wr.
south carolina also has a bad ass at running back named marcus lattimore. the heisman could come down to alshon jeffery and marcus lattimore. steve spurrier finally has the players he wants. a high octane offense and a defense that will get him the ball back really fast. the gamecocks are loaded for bear. no doubt about it.
I’m sorry but the best wide receiver in the league is not him, it’s by far Justin blackmon. He had over 100 receptions, 1782 receiving yards, and 20 receiving touchdowns, even after missing the game against kansas state
sorry but this is a preseason list that contains the most likely to win the Heisman, not the most deserving. Dan persa would certainly be in the running if the heisman was an mvp, but bush over young in 06 proved that its not. persa wont put up nearly enough stats to overcome coming from a non heisman school, much less a non college football power.
You have to be out of your mind not to have dan persa.Beat all around player in big ten. whoeverer wrote this article is crazy
I agree… how could you possibly miss Dan Persa. Clearly one of the bet QB’s, if not the best in the nation. One would have to be living under a rock to not see this young man’s talents…
I guess a lot
of people are “living under rocks”!
Russell Wilson is not on the list and you guys are complaining about Dan Persa? Get real. He might be valuable to his (your) team, but his numbers are not Heisman worthy. Not even close. It is good, however, to finally see Montee Ball where he should be — at the top of any Heisman watch (even if it is only alphabetical). Best RB in college football. Let’s see what happens as he approaches Barry Sanders’ TD record.
Ryan Broyles anyone?
I agree Ryan Broyles should definitely be in the top five of this list
How can you haved Ryan Broyles numbers and not be on the list?!!!
where is braxton miller on this list?
LOL let him play a down of college football before you call him a Heisman contender. Take off those homer glasses and try to realize how stupid your comment was.
a player like Miller is an instant threat…especially since he will probably get to start the first five games of the season…
I hope he takes over the starting spot for the whole season. That would teach Pryor a lesson.
Why Not Chris Polk of Washington” ? here are his numbers from last year
1,415 yards, 260 atts., 5.4 avg.
Now compare him to other backs on your list
Montee Ball, Wisconsin — 996 yards, 163 attempts, 6.1 average.
Knile Davis, Arkansas — 1,322 yards, 204 att., 6.48, avg.
Michael Dyer, Auburn — 1,093 yards, 182 atts., 6.01 avg.
Ronnie Hillman, San Diego State — 1,532 yards, 262 atts., 5.8 avg.
Marcus Lattimore, South Carolina — 1,197 yards, 249 atts., 4.8 avg.
Trent Richardson, Alabama — 700 yards, 112 atts., 6.5.
LaMichael James, Oregon — 1,731 yards, 294 atts., 5.8 avg.
James White, Wisconsin — 1,052 yards, 156 atts., 6.7 avg.
Polk has a chance to become the greatest RB in Washington history from a list that includes Napoleon Kaufmann, Corey Dillon, and Hugh “The King” Mcelhenney
Everyone else is capable of single handedly changing a game on their own and producing a victory for their team. Not only are they capable they have done it before. Chris Polk has a decent stat line but he is on a terrible team and he’s not good enough to secure victories on his own. He doesn’t belong anywhere close to this list.
First of all, he’s not on a terrible team. And second of all, he did basically win games on his own. He’s the reason UW won four in a row, including their bowl game. You obviously weren’t watching.
That’s very easy. He’s playing on a weak team in an awful conference. PAC 10 has maybe one or two decent teams at best that could never keep up with the likes of SEC football or others. Geez. Washington a powerhouse school; yeah right
Get a clue. Washington beat Nebraska and USC last year, went 5-4 in conference with 5 on the road. They finished in the top 25 of the Sagarin ratings. They had the 2nd most difficult schedule.
They’d be an 8-9 win team if they played the joke of a non-conference schedule that most schools play. Check how many teams had a winning conference record, not 500 but winning. Its about 20.
Are you saying Oregon is decent?
Washington isn’t that good. Polk is beast, but LaMichael’s better.
Trent Richardson had 700 yds with less than 1/2 the carries for BAMA…its gonna be exciting to see what he does with the full load!!
and sorry dude richardson had all them yards against out of conference opponents….like duke..penn st..and who ever else they played ….ULM or whoever ….he isn’t that good …sorry…he’s had in two years like 40 yards total against Auburn….well so has Ingram , but still….wouldn’t hang ur hat on him just yet buddy……Dyer is way better…..no comparison. ..dyer had 1100 yards with 6.1 a carry and he split the load with three ppl lol
Hey Barn Rat- I am getting new oak floors put in my home. Wanna come over and roll them?
And what did Dyer do against Bama? nothing. how many teams played 8 in the box against them? none. trent richardson had 700 yards behind a terrible o-line while splitting carries with a Heisman winner, while dyer had the benefit of a great o-line a good qb and a wide open system.
dude….and what did Trend R. do against Auburn both years….oh thats right nothing…what did he do this year besides get hurt like a little bitch in the first quarter….he isn’t that good without a good line….as proven this year…him and ingram sucked….richardson is strong , thats it….get over it ….war eagle ,and have fun with sucking again…..
yeah richardson isnt just big not really a great back to get the hiesman i mena i was surprised the ingram even won it him self but i mean crazy things happen in college football so who knows, dyer is gonna be something but hgaving cam newton as a qb also helped i mean the defense worried bout him more thendyer like on triple options be intresting to see what he does without newton
Hey dumbass… your tigers will suck so bad this year you’ll want to convert. TR is a BEAST and even someone like you will see that. He benchpresses over 500 lbs which is almost 2 times as much as your mom weighs. As for Michael Dyer, he’ll have to do it alone this year. Last year he was an average RB with a Heisman QB standing next to him. I hope you’re excited about Barret Trotter…BARRET TROTTER. Give me a ******* break
DonP ur an itiot…oregon stopped Auburn kinda cause of a few overthrown balls , and two deep balls that oregon connected on on a breakdown on coverage…otherwise that game would of been a blowout….and the WAC-10 is so weak its not worth talking about other than the fact that they are so weak that they dont even play a championship game….and the SEC schedules cupcake out of conference games cause they need a break after playing ranked teams every week. dumbass……..and the best of the ranked teams at that….got something to say to that? oh oh how many BCS Titles is that in a row now? has the SEC ever lost the big game? didn’t think so……if any of them WAC-10 teams ran the gauntlet that we had to everyweek they would be so beat up , with at least 4 losses…..small ass football players…..WAR EAGLE
Mine as well add Edwin Baker (MSU) to the list then. 208 att for 1201 yrds and 13 TD’s all while his backup ran for nearly 600 yards. He easily could have rushed for 1500-1600 yards and 16+ TD’s.. Don’t know that he is a “game changer”, but he matches everyone stats on here with ease.
I’m more worried about what our O-line is going to do and not our backs. We lost half the O-line to graduation. Go Bucky!!! On Wisconsin!
BECAUSE WASHINGTON DAWGS SUCK AND ARE OREGON”S BIOTCHES
I was wondering the same thing. Chris Polk should be on the radar! His yards after contact are off the charts!
montee ball and james white were on the same team….along with another 1000 yard rusher….tough to put up 1400 with that many guys touching the ball
Chris Polk?!? haahahahah….haahahahh ..
STOP the hype!!
Darron Thomas jr.?? Is this the same guy who played for them in the championship game? He sucked. I have a better arm throwing from my couch than this kid.
Thomas sucked in the championship game??? Yeah, 27 of 40 for 363 yards. That really sucks. You wish you sucked like that.
Thomas is a stud. Not only is he…the ducks backup QB should be a finalist. Not only that…they have 3 or 4 RBs that should be finalist. In fact the whole heisman list should be entirely from Oregon.
this list is a useless as the same list from 2010. Only Kellen Moore was on that list, and maybe Trent Richardson.
nah, kellen moore will probably get knocked senseless in the georgia game and end up running for public office somewhere in Idahole.
Chris Polk affects the outcome of games, did you watch the Holiday Bowl, Apple Cup, Cal game, he carried an average team behind a very average offensive line. I am not saying he should be up for the Heisman but his stats speak for themselves.
Why would anyone remember the Apple Cup? The HOliday bowl or another weak PAC 10 match up against CAL. Give me a break. You play against sorry Foes and you can rack up stats. Look at Oregon. Where were the points when it mattered in the NC game. They played an Auburn team that had it’s worst performance all year, yet they still lost to them. Let’s stop embarassing yourself over this Polk dud.
You talk about the Pac – 10 playing sorry foes? They’re the only league that plays 9 conference games, unlike the SEC, that loads up on patsies and 1-AA chumps. Hell, Florida hasn’t played a non-conference game out of the state since Ronald Reagan was president. And Oregon had something to do with Auburn’s low score. That defense knocked Cam around more than any of the “potent” SEC teams did.
I think 6 straight speaks for itself. Cam wa beat up. And an sec defense was the toughest run d Oregon played all year. And in the case for Polk, to win on a mediocre team against mediocre run defenses, you have to be exceptional (lamichael james.) there’s no reason to think Polk is that. And Florida has Miami and FSU in state. the Whack-10′s best couldn’t beat the SEC’S best, so don try and argue how the sec is under-rated.
Oregon also played the worst game they played all year. So it wasn’t only Auburn. LaMichael James injured his ankle during the game so Oregon really lacked the running game.
the BCS also pretty much handed Auburn the game with a last minute 50 yard freebee. there’s no arguing that. The play had stopped, Dyer had hit the ground, he was down. They had the same exact thing happen in Arkansas’s bowl game and they called him down.
Lets look at the big picture: LaMichael James, Darron Thomas, Kellen Moore. Those are the guys you should watch
Micheal dyer will no doubt win the heisman this year need I say more
No, that comment pretty much proves you’re an idiot.
No, you don’t need to say more. Because you already proven you’re an idiot.
I keed…I keed. He’s a good RB.
If you’re team isn’t bound for a BCS game your chance to win the Heisman is pretty much shot. Auburn should be solid, but definitely not BCS solid. Unless they moved out of the SEC West and into the PAC-10 and I didn’t hear about it. Also, considering the fact Dyer lost his O-line and crutch (Cam Newton) he could be in for an uphill race for much Heisman hype. He’s is really good though. Either way, solid year for SEC running backs.
Oh and KNILES FOR HEISMAN!
A name you need to consider: David Wilson, RB, Virginia Tech. I understand why he’s not on this list, because he had to split his carries with 2 other backs in 2010. Still he had 619 yds. and 5 TD. This year he’ll be the feature back in a run-oriented offense, and should easily top 1,000 yards with a lot of highlights.
I agree, David Wilson should get some press, but also Tyrod Taylor’s replacement, Logan Thomas. We’ll be hearing about him next season, he’s Cam Newton’s size but is supposed to be faster.
It is hard to believe ALSHON JEFFREY is not on this list. The kid averaged 108 yards a game, outperformed Julio Jones and AJ Green, and made more one-handed circus catches than you can count. His 1517 receiving yards are second all-time in the history of the SEC for a single season!!! DUH!!!
i agree. though Lattimore is a more present threat this upcoming year. Jeffery is in his 3rd year Lattimore will be a sophomore. although i don’t think it will be his year for a Heisman i do think he will outperform Jeffery this year instead of just splitting the cake.
Who cares? What’s really interesting is how mean and violent people are getting. This is just a place where people go to comment on the subject at hand, but you see this on every blog…mean spirited people who call others they don’t even know bad names, like idiott. Whoever said that needs to have his mouth washed out with soap like your mother used to do. It’s easy to take pot shots from behind a computer screen…hey tuff guys, why don’t you post your addresses and ages too?
How do you have this list without Notre Dame WR Michael Floyd with 79 Receptions for 1025 yds with a 13.0 average yards per catch and for 12 touchdown. Should be in the top 5.
This is exactlly what I was thinking! All this hype for Blackmon and Floyd will finish his ND career at ND with every WR record and will have done it playing a harder schedule than Blackmon, and with more games missed due to injury. Floyd will turn heads this year. Such a shame he is not on this list!
No, it’s really not. Sheesh people take these things too seriously.
Right now it’s Andrew Luck’s to lose. Way too many names on this list, way too many.
Why isn’t Terrell Pryor on the list? Oh, I forgot he won’t be in the first 5 games……just thinkin’
Pryor won’t win the Heisman, but he’ll finish the season with more votes/points than almost everyone on this list.
Luke Kuchely LB from BC might be the best overall defensive player in college football next year.
Nick Foles QB Arizona has a great recieving corps and should be in the run for Pac 12 player of the year and All American honors
Nick Foles is a good quarterback, but he doesn’t have awareness nor the ability to scramble needed in college. if he improves his awareness then he’ll be great and even greater at the next level, but until then I wouldn’t even consider him
All 22 candidates should be the starting offensive and defensive lineup for Auburn.
Auburn will crush everything and anything in it’s way. Including any frivolous NCAA investigations.
WDE!!!!!!!!
WITHOUT $CAM NEWTON AUBURN IS A MEDIOCRE SEC TEAM 8 WINS TOPS
Where’s Ryan Broyles?! Receptions: 131 Receiving yards:1622 YAC: 12.4 Touchdowns: 14
One of the most electrifying guys in the game.
Easily better than most of those candidates on that list.
Shouldn’t you play the season before we get to hyped about this? Just a thought
What about LeDude for Heisman?! Where’s LeDude’s name?!
Afterall, LeDude is bound to win it before Terrell Pryor … hahaha
Sell this fool!!!
LD
Seriously no love for Cyrus Gray? Once he got the start nod with 6 games left in the season he put up 838 rushing yards and 10 TD’s in those games, never dropping below 100 yds. If you throw in the Cotton Bowl he had 938 and 10 TD’s in 7 GAMES?!?! We’ll see next year…
Cyrus Gray wont be there because he will have to split carries with Christine. Ryan is also going to throw it all over the field with Fuller and the other WR with a long name. If the defense gels without Von Miller in the joker hole, ATM is going to be tough again. Gig em!
All of these Auburn folks are hilarious!! They come out of the woodwork now that their precious Tigers have finally one a championship although they had to pay a player to do it…. But that’s besides the point. The funny thing is they do not realize that the only reason Dyer had so many yards is because opposing defenses had to account for Scam on every play and therefore were not keying on the Auburn backs. While Dyer is a stud of a back, he is definitely not on the level of a Trent Richardson, Lattimore, or K. Davis. To say that Trent R. is not that good shows me and the rest of the country just how ignorant you barn fans really are. Its ok though, next year your beloved Barn Eagles will go 7-5 and the Universe will be realigned once again with Auburn back to its rightful place. That is unless they decide to buy another Heisman winner…. Catch my drift??
Moniz for heisman
You forgot one of the best RB’s in the country…LAMAR MILLER from the U. Number 6 in the program, number 1 in your heart.
dayne crist on here but not michael floyd ?
crist may not even be the starter for ND, there will be a 4 way race up to gameday.
floyd will leave ND with every WR record.
You auburn people are as mean as Harvey.Just as stipid. You buy a team or rent and will go back to nothing.Despite you stupid fans ,I am for the trees.
dude ur an idiot….Auburn has been a powerhouse for the past decade..full of ten win seasons…….ur ignorant comment about the buying a team , means that u must be an imbred Alabama fan….its only natural that ur an peasant …..war eagle…..2010 National Champs….and dont get mad that ur team will never have an offense like Auburn did , and u will never have a player like Cam was……dumb fuck
It’s Inbred
Talk about buying a championship? Alabumble is currently in year two of a three year NCAA probation. I guess if you can’t read the textbooks, it is only appropriate to sell them to pay the gas bill for Julio’s Escalade…..
The heisman needs to be re-named to the Offensive Heisman Award. Does anyone really believe that year after year an offensive player is the best player in the country?
John Brantley 2011 heisman winner!!
I live in Wisconsin and I’m a huge Badger fan, but I can’t see Ball or White getting the Heisman. Not because they’re not talented enough, but because they will be splitting a lot of carries between the two of them, not to mention Zach Brown will be back off his redshirt season and will likely get carries too seeing as he will be a 5th year senior. Now, if a group of RBs could share the Heisman, then Wisconsin would have won it this past year and next year, and would likely win it this coming year as well
Oops, for got to erase the “and next year” part, but you get what I’m saying.
Dyer is a good back. I think Lattimore is a better , tougher back. With some offense around Lattimore , he is a leading back for Heisman. I think Dyer will have to prove himself for atleast another year. James at Oregon could be the leader just as much. Wisconsin’s backs are very good. However, because Wisconsin ,like Alabama, runs a physical, inside style of running game, their running backs and Bama’s backs will have a harder time getting big yardage games which seems to be the attraction for voters and much less physicality style and production of Backs like Richardson, Ball, or even Lattimore. Richardson will get help from backups that will cut into his yardage and I’m sure every opponent will key on him. Bama’s smaller passing attack this year could affect their ability to run as well. However, Richardson would be my personal favorite to win it. just like his running style. I think Crowell at Georgia will be very similar in a year or two. Jeffries at LSU could have a break out year. Overall though, I agree that it is Andrew Luck’s to lose right now. He deserves it and he is a good guy that has the character that should go along with a Heisman candidate and winner.
You all got very compelling arguements with all these greats stats…. Although your leaving out the most important one…. WINS!!!! All those great stats dont mean nothing if the team is below .500 or even 9-4….
Agree, I saw one of the best Running backs in the last decade fall out of the race for a while because he was on simply an above average team (RUN DMC!!!)
Yall can say all yall want but aaron murray is gonna win it.
All you talking about these rbs. What about Kniles Davis. The only rb on that list that should beat him ahead of him in voting is LaMichael James. His stats can compare with anyones. He has the third highest ypc and he had at least 50 more carries than the two ahead of him. As for being a game changer once he became the starter the hogs didnt lose till the bowl game and that loss definately wasnt his fault. There wasnt a single defense they played that could stop him. And before you auburn fans start talking crap about beating arkansas he wasnt starting then and wasnt hardly getting any carries. Im not saying that having him be the starter would mean we would have beat yall but our rushing would have been way better. As for next year he is going to be a bigger part of our offense next year because we will have a new qb.
Yeah, he got most of the yards in the second half of the season. The best thing he has going for him is that teams won’t stack the box against him. In fact, a lot of teams will probably have to run a nickle against Arkansas because of the depth at receiver.
Denard Robinson. Michigan.
James…White…
Where is (insert my team’s best player)!? He should be on the list! He threw/ran/caught (insert statistics)! Plus he’s the emotional leader! This list is stupid without him!
Sure he’s pretty good. But (player from same conference) is better and we’re more likely to win the conference! Plus he put up better stats! I know he had (insert minor injury), but we all expect him to come back strong! This list is stupid without him!
ok first of all, auburn wont be shit without cam newton, and he has shown that on many occasion. why in the hell do you think auburn fans call it the CAMback or WAR CAM EAGLE, because newton did everything. he did deserve to win the heisman and he was the best player in college football that year. and as far as auburn fans talkin shit about bama…auburn stands in the shadow of bamas great tradition and bright future and will try to find any oppurtunity to talk shit because they won 2 national championships compared to alabamas 13. yea..mark ingram was bamas most looked at player becuase he was a heisman contender but we did make up some stupid ass saying about him because we had more weapons on both sides of the ball. ROLL TIDE!!!!
Typo?
Someone forgot to put Case Keenum on the list.
yeah, but what do you think of this?
http://lockersmash.com/2011/05/time-for-derrick-rose-to-bring-it/
Although i am a SC fan i cant help thinking that it will be another year or two before we see Lattimore in close contention. There are just too many veterans on this list. I would think Jeffrey has more of a chance this year. Can’t wait for this year now that we dont suck anymore!
Go Gamecocks!!
You forgot LAMAR MILLER! Shame on you!
David Wilson…nuff said.
we need trent for 1 not 4th its bull
?Alguien sabe de que va esto? De todos modos de que tu web sea un informativa para mi.

Interesting article, I really wish to share about Charles B. Wang center founded by Charles Wang . I visited Gift shop there & I really impressed by them because most of the item made from recycled materials with unique ideas. It was a great experience.
