Boyd’s shot

Tajh Boyd and Clemson take on NC State tonight, which means he has the spotlight all to himself.

It’s a great chance for Boyd to build upon his performance in leading the Tigers over Georgia a couple weeks ago.

One of the most underrated factors in the Heisman race is the Thursday or Friday night game. These games allow players to break out of the craziness of Saturday football, when a good showing might get lost in the shuffle. Even though the audience is smaller on Thursday night, you get 100% of the audience watching you play.

The downside, of course, is that if you don’t play well, they see that, too. But there is far more upside to the equation. Boyd needs to take this opportunity and run with it. Seeing as how he had no touchdown passes last week against South Carolina State, he needs to be highly productive against the Wolfpack to get back on a Heisman-worthy pace.
